Where to buy gate valves? (1 Viewer)

I need a 1.5 inch schedule 40 slipxslip

I see BRS only has sch 80. Ace had one but it was FPT. IIRC menards, fleetfarm, and HD don't carry them right?
 
ANd the reason I'm not to keen (well I want cause it would be nice but,) on doing all sch 80 is even from BRS it would be ~$65, versus ~25 for sch 40.
 
You need one for a skimmer or something? I tend to go with tru ball values (the ball valves with unions on each side).... I only have a 1.5" threadedx threaded true ball valve... You should be able to find one at all the above, best store though is Ace, they seem to have more than HD and menards... HD is actually last on my list :)
 
Yep, for a skimmer. For some reason my skimmer randomly moves more water than usual and seeing how i'm still using the riser tube it cascades out and is uber loud. Hence the needing of a gate valve mod...

Marine solutions sells a kit in sch 40 but they want 37.99+ shipping, and I know sch 40 1 1/2 gates are only ~15 + maybe 2 more for the tee and elbow.
 
The Ace in Bemidji carries them. That is the only place that I have been able to find them.
 
I know Hastings had some when I was buying some fittings.... check with Dirk, I'm sure he has some....

we stock sch 80 gate valves from 1/2" - 2". (we only have 1", 1.5" and 2" in stock now, but by next week we will have them all in stock.)

valves don't really come in sch 40 or 80, they are pressure rated instead.

In the hobby people just say sch 80 when the valve is grey since water pressure in aquariums is low and unimportant to us.

most HD have gate valves but few have them that large. When you do find them it might cost more than you think. I'd save yourself some time and just get it from lee and fritz at AE
 
If its slip slip, why wouldn't the grey one from BRS work? the outer dimension of the pipe is the same. Plus, they go on sale tomorrow :)
 
No they go on sale to night at mid night 12:01 lol just given you hard time

I was just being a cheapass, I will probably end up doing all sch 80 for that nice look.

Ryan, what tier do we go to with the group buy? I see it makes a big difference in price on all the sch 80 parts.
 
I have 1.5-gate valve but it is not slip slip and it is used but in good shape, looking for trade's like (zoo or Polyp's and any Softies)
