I picked up Abberix's yellow turb, he originally got it from DG. I don't think it will get as yellow as DG's because i don't run MH's instead a 6 bulb TEK on my 75g. Just wondering what is best for these guys, placement, flow, more daylight bulbs, any special care? I've had it in the tank for about 2 weeks now seems to be slowly getting a less bright every day...

I've found mine likes high light, high flow. They do best for me when kept in the top portion of the tank. I also run 6 T5s(2 normal 4 on icecap). As you suspected, it keeps the brighter, more intense, yellow under daylights.

FWIW: DG runs T5s too. :)

Yea i think my daylights need to be replaced shortly so i'm hoping that might pop it a little... i have it about halfway up but with lower flow, i'll try moving it around to see what it will do.

No special care. The best color for me was either mid-tank under 150w MH, or lower tank under LED. I got mine from Graham...who got it from DG...so, it should look like this...

T5s are fine. It does better in more white tank ( closer to 10K ) than a heavy blue ( 14+ K ).

It's mostly just finding the right intensity for your liking. Lower intensity it will get darker but the rim and polyps should still stay bright yellow. Higher the intensity the more solid yellow it can become. Both colorations are still attractive IMO.

Slow grower. Your on about a 5 year plan for it to become a nice sized colony with multiple swirls. Much like Monti caps. The more often you frag the edges tends to produce more swirls ( just much slower than a cap)

Otherwise, it should be extremely hardy as none of the known coral pests ( to date ) eat or irritate it.

MY polyps don't seem to be all coming out, a lot of them but not all, is this common?

I'll try to get a pic tonite.

Honestly, I've never paid that much attention. Polyp extention during the day isn't necessarily a sign of good or bad health. Nothing to worry about, especially since you haven't had it long.

OK, I just would like the polyps to be out more since they are brighter then the base. thanks for the comments
