one step up to entry platform, one step into house. PM to set up ramps. Front door is 36" wide and a 36" wide hallway leads to 180 gallon tank on main floor. Main floor bathroom is not handicap friendly. Shark system is in basement and is not handicap accessible.
Will you be providing any refreshments?
Something of some kind, food-wise. Probably have some Summit EPA, Kona Big Wave, and maybe a cream ale. Soda pop and water as well. Plenty of seating throughout the house and if it's not raining, we have a huge deck to hang out on as well. Please don't flick any butts on the ground, my dogs will eat them.
Are there any specific parking guidelines?
Driveway reserved for motorcycles (Gary) and handicap if needed. Park on street. Culd - a - sack, so be mindfull of driveways and mailboxes.
Do you have any pets? (this is for members with allergies)
Two pugs that might be at Camp Bow Wow, and a cat that lives on the top floor that won't come downstairs anymore.
Are children allowed?
No. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Please provide a short description of your experience in the hobby and any tanks currently running.
In hobby since 2007, always been about the fish. Tried coral briefly in my early days, but never could get into it. Loved fish way more. Been into sharks since 2009 or so and have successfully bred the coral catshark.
Current tanks: 180 gallon fish only tank dominated by butterflyfish, and a twin 500 gallon shark pond system run by commercial level equipment in a dedicated equipment room. One tank is empty, and they were originally setup with breeding in mind. There are seven sharks, four epaullette and three coral catsharks.

Filtration consists of a custom built rollermat sump by Elite Aquatics. Sump was built with an extra front chamber with a removable slotted divider that can be used for equipment, refugeum, media, ect. Wanted it to be versatile, and is currently housing Cermedia blocks. Skimmer: Bubbleking, Return pump: Eheim, Other circulation: Eheim closed loop via left overflow and spraybar for gyre movement. Tank outlets on backup generator.
I absolutely love the rollermat filter. It is so nice to be able to remove waste BEFORE it reaches the nitrogen cycle. I have noticed a big difference in how the tank looks just adding this mechanical filter.
Feeding: I feed exclusively LRS foods, around 3 square inches a day, but not all at once. I also feed one 9x9" algae sheet, 1/2 at a time. Supplemented daily feedings occur via automatic fish feeder with flake food. *special note on algae sheets: they don't graze on them throughout the day. Half of a 9x9" sheet lasts approx 1 minute. Buying in bulk and using a vac sealer has been great.
* Special Note: I can't get a decent photo of the tank to save my life. There are too many reflections off the glass at all angles. I'm hoping a camera-toting club member with maybe a polarizer can snap some good photos. (paging Ben Nicholls)
Tank description: 500 dual pond setup for small sharks

Set up for maybe four years now? I suck at time. I still only have one tank filled because there isn't a need for the second one yet. This setup uses 500 gallon stock tanks (7.5' diameter) plumbed to a 75 gallon upright poly aquaculture tank used as a sump. The sump is purely used as a junction box from the tanks to feed the pumps and filtration loops. There are two reeflo pumps, a Snapper that feeds the closed loop filtration: skimmer, bio filter. A Suntail pressure pump (dart size motor) feeds the open loop: bead filter, UV, heat exchanger. All plumbing is 2", dropping to 1.5" at the tank outlets. Tanks drain 2" into a 3" pipe that goes to the sump. Each tank is setup to handle 30gpm. Currently running 1 at 22 gpm. All tanks and sump are at the same level so no flooding or disasters can occur during an outage. System is on an automatic backup generator.
Filtration: Commercial level utilizing a bead filter with air assisted backwash set up as a skid system with a 120 watt UV sterilizer. This passes through an 1800 watt titanium heat exchanger with pid control and out to the tanks. Also from the sump on a closed loop is an Aquarium Engineering protein skimmer with a 12x48" reaction chamber. This is a needle wheel skimmer that is force-fed with an Alita 40 air pump. The skimmer is currently dialed in at a 2 minute dwell. The output feeds into a moving bed bio reactor that is a copy of the units sold by Pentair Aquatic Ecosystems. This filter uses K1 kaldnes media which makes for an efficient and self cleaning biofilter.
Livestock: Seven sharks total, four epaulette, three coral catsharks. Of those sharks, only two are adults - one female epaulette (11 years old, maybe 12?) and one male coral catshark (reached maturity a few months ago). The rest are larger juveniles. There is no possibility of any breeding for at least a couple years, minimum.
Feeding: I feed pieces of seafood cut into bite-sized pieces, a mix of shrimp, cod, squid, and sometimes salmon. They are given a multivitamin formulated for sharks once a week.
Humidity: Humidity hasn't been an issue at all, even though I currently have around 45 sqft of open water. The skimmer and biofilter both vent to the outside, as does the room itself via a 70cfm continuous ventilation fan. Humidity was way more of a problem with the temporary setup while I was building the big one -- and that had a dehumidifier in that closed room that ran 24/7, plus a main one in the basement that also ran 24/7. Since moving into the current room with ventilation, the main basement dehumidifier only kicks on after it rains in the summer. No "ice dams" on the house windows during the winter either.
