honestly my biggest goal starting from today is getting this tank up at the retirement home down the road i volenteer at.. mine comes second... it took me 3 years to get them to give me 200 so at least purchase a tank... everything else is out of pocket.. so i went on good ol craigslist and found a used tank stand and t-5 lighting.... spent 400 out of pocket just to pick up most other odds n ends... pumps skimmers ect.... just waiting on salt, lr, and sand now.... so thats my most important goal... giving the sweet ol ladies something to enjoy

start a thread with pictures and the like and people will likely donate frags or otherwise to the cause.

I'm contemplating vodka dosing in 2010 in my 180g. I still have some additional reading to do though before I start.

oh i will. and the purpose of this is not to get donations... ill gladly accept them but thats not my posts purpose... im gunna just slowly build my tank and give the elders a beautiful serene environment first.... they deserve it more than i do

So now the year is coming to a close. Lets here some of the goals or improvements that you plan to implement for your fish tank in 2010.

For me, my goal is to get daily water change system in place. I'm planning to do a 3 gallon ( roughly 1% of total volumne ) water change per day. It's not quite as effeicient as a 1 time 30% water change would be. It works out to be the 26%, which is only 4% less effeicient than a single water change. The added consistancy and convienience should make up for the 4%.

Have lots of ideas and going to try a non-dosing pump method first. Should cost under $100. If it doesn't go as well as I hope then I'll fall back on using dosing pumps which is the most common way people achieve it.

What's your plans for 2010 to improve your system ?

I was thinking about the daily water change as well, but I'm thinking of using dosing pumps, am interested to see what you come up with.....

I am going to get the 150 up and running finally, though if Corey is selling his ELOS, I may need to change my plans.....

I would like to actually get water in my tank, have everything purchased and ready to go, have done exhaustive research, but can't seem to make time to actually plumb, wire and fill the tank. Probably fear of failure!

A DA APEX controller with all the goodies for ease and consistant control and monitoring.:greenguy:

Building a 120 gal DT with filtration through the wall in my storage room. It has been too long since I've had a big reef! Going reef fish only to start and building into SPS.

Looking for automation!

So, will be searching for used tanks for sumps soon...

Ac jr
Leds DIY
breast pump ato
Cal Reactor
and when all is said and done start doing shots with my tank (ie vodka dosing justb a little bit)

Stabilize the 215 and remove hair algae
Mount all the frags I havent been able to mount because of the hair algae.
Sit back and enjoy all my work :)

FYI - For those that are going to automate or at least make water changes easier that is one of the best things you can do. When I sit up the 215 that was at the top of my goals and it is soooooo nice not having to haul buckets anymore. Just open a valve to drain and plug in a pump to refill.

i think they mean
automatic water change everyday by dosing pump instead dump 30g sw at once

Get water in my 65
Unfortunately in an apartment I dont have the space for full automation
Couple that with only having a part time job and buckets look pretty dang good to me
