You win some you loose some when ordering online. Don't like it or not willing to take the risk then support your LFS.

I've never seen a purple turbinaria. As far as I'm concerned the only way would be if lit under really blue or actinic not under more normal conditions.
 
..I did recently find out what my turbinaria will look like however, I was down at Murrays last thurs to pick up some goodies, and he had a big one...Im not sure, maybe 8" tall and scrolled around. It is EXACTLY the same color as mine, so mine is no special "One of a kind" color morph, unique to that outfit. just plain ole yeller :)

The good thing is that I was ok with the way murrays looked, so I hope I will like mine as at grows and gets bigger. It doesnt look so much like skin...LOL bleh

my inspiration for wanting a turb was from seeing this pic of chingchai's tank in Thailand. It was the first time I had seen one....this was just in his tank, I have no idea how it lit it, or the parameters of the tank, not for sale or anything.

Here's a pic of mine, I got it in 1999 so about 11 years old. Approx 15+" in diameter. The scrolls are so thick now that if/when I do frag some, it takes a good 6 months for the ends to fully heal back over and start to regrow. Good news is becuase the edges are thick the new growth starts to scroll right away:

I have another one that kinda has a purplish under heavy blue. Got it as a frag about 3 years ago. Hasn't done swat. Still just looks like a frag.

I really like yours..do you mind if I save that picture? I will keep reminding myself of what I may have one day...well.....if i live long enough.

the one at murrays was a different shape...more straight up and down like chingchai's...but I like the shape and growth of either one...it was the horrendous coloration of mine that I couldnt get past.

I really love this type of coral. The edges on mine are juuuuust starting to curl up, but we have a long long loooooooooong way to go.

one of a kind color morph indeed. and that goofy ad is still up. * eyeroll*
 
wet world used to have a giant purple turb. he fragged it into about six-6" peices like a pie. was still selling some last i saw.
 
Under 400w 10K Ushios it was solid yellow, under lesser lighting the polyps and edges always remain bright yellow but the flesh will be darker with less intensity.
 
Lesson one in buying online...

Sucks that they wont own up to it though, but it figures since they're dishonest enough to enhance a photo that much.
 
Seen David's last year and I thought it looked really nice then, I bet it is fantastic looking now. The way they grow is so cool.
