Redeclipse's Fluval Edge LED Mod (1 Viewer)

Ok... tonight (with the help of my brother) , made a pretty big/stupid breakthrough regarding lighting this thing... its not specifically the hood that's causing the most problems, (well, without the hood its a lot better too) but the biggest issue is the location of the lights, which are primarily south of the centerline of the tank . Moving the light fixture so that it is directly over the center of the tank rather than the back half dramatically improves the overall lighting. Should be building a custom acrylic hood to replace the old one this weekend. I'll post updates!

Working on the hood replacement today...
Got the pieces cut out , next up is sanding, gluing, painting and putting a new screen in. Wish me luck!

Ok, so I forgot to post the last picture of this (after the hood was complete) , I'm still waiting on a screen that my dad said he had at work, but the frame is at least there...
plus, FTS

thanks guys. I'm hoping the bryopsis goes away, I scrubbed that rock off (on the left) and gave it a rinse before putting it back in the tank.. hopefully it'll make the tech m more effective.

So what's next for the build? Knowing you, you're rarely happy enough with your tank as a whole to stop tinkering with it ;)

hah, nothing planned other than adding the screen top... I was thinking about maybe getting lenses for the LEDs, but I don't know if i need them...

but hey! I haven't done anything with my biocube lately and it looks great  i might need to do a FTS of that here...

Alright everyone. I think this marks the end of this build, unless I decide to revisit a UV led moonlight addition I was considering...

Decided to build a stand this week. Took me and my brother 3 nights.

Thats probably the nicest, cleanest, all around best fluval I've seen. Congrats on such an awesome tank!!!

OMG! The sterilite drawers are retired! Lol...I was sitting on pins and needles every day, waiting for you to post that your tank fell off the plastic tubs :gay1:
In all sincerity, the cabinet looks really sharp. Great job! Tank looks awesome too :beerchug:

haha, I figured I might as well calm everyone's nerves and finally build something a bit more substantial.

Fun fact- the etched glass panel is just picture frame glass sprayed with matte clearcoat on both sides.

Now you guys can just wait for my post about how the side of the tank blew out when I was messing with my rockwork and I fried my playstation, wii, and TV...

Awesome!!! Any shots of the stand build?

unfortunately no... Its half inch plywood though, pretty simple design, 3 sides, two front pieces (2"x17") a door with a cutout in the back for the glass to sit in, glass is held by mirror holders,

2 shelves plus a bottom that can be used as a shelf
