Lets say the Tech "M" ends up being the working solution for me. Why?
If one works and not the other there must be a difference.
Hypothesis:
1)There is an additional element (other than M. Chl. and M. Sul.). In either BRS making it not work or in Tech making it work.
2) The balance of M. Chl. is different than M. Sul.
Any other possible hypothesis?

If your doing a Tech M test second maybe the total duration of higher M. Levels.
IF there is an additional element I think Kent would have released a product specifically for HA eradication.

That's about it, but unfortunately, you'll need a spectral photometer to know either one. There's already a ton of chloride in saltwater, I don't think it's number two. My guess, only a guess, Kent uses lower quality of MgCl and MgSO and there's some impurity that is the delta......
You are joking right? Why would Elevated magnesium levels causes snails loose their grip?!? I ran elevated mg levels of 1600 and 1650, along side calcium levels of 550 -600 for almost a year, no snail issues, no conch issues...
Reef looks sweet fritz, despite the addition of non-SPS....

One might be surprised how much joy the reef at home adds to my life. I always turn OFF the room lights for dinner to watch the reef. We have folks over at least 3 times a month and the reef gets lots of attention. And at night when I have to make a pit-stop, the moonlights are on. I shuffle over in my PJs and watch the glow

Still fits into category #1... just impurity vs additive. Its been a week at over 1600, and I did add some longspines and emeralds, but I am not seeing any algae melt off or snails drop. The corals and fish look great. One, probably coincidental, event is the bar gobies seem to be doing the sexy-flashy thing.
And at night when I have to make a pit-stop, the moonlights are on. I shuffle over in my PJs and watch the glow

Tank looks great Fritz! I have not every heard anything about snails "losing their grip" withh high Mag levels? Is there any proof or article on it that i cant find?

Because I am going to try and keep as much of this equipment unchanged till 2015 (5 year tank goal). And i don't want to change my MH bulb choice (20K radium), and I don't want to up the watts (currently 250). I will likely need to skirt the edges with LPS. It also helps make the non-sps-freaks happy.

I took mine to 2000 plus in the nano nothing lost its grip... on reality anyways.
I had the same algae as you fritz I assumed it was Briopsis, anyway at 2k plus the stuff melted away in a week and I brought the levels back down with water changes and I haven't had a problem since nothing seemed to suffer LPS,SPS of inverts. This was in my 28 gal not the larger tank. FWIW

Sold the microscope a year back. If I could get one where could I find reference charts?
wish i could grow that in my 10g! it'll help a ton with my clown pair's water quality!!!!

Ya I have bubble too. I have hermits in there and I plan on a Mag. Rabbit. But, I want to play this test through so I have personal experience with it. I am afraid if I get the rabbit now I won't have a good story to tell about my "Bryopsis Days".
