My brand new SPS tank has this going on and I've yet to find the root cause either

I think you should add more not less. Told you, you needed a bigger tank:beerchug:
How do I get those hanging ledges in my tank? Some sort of reef putty?
kill that bryopsis **** with kent tech m and be done with it:coolmadlenty of threads you can check out on other forums that discuss this and it works. I've had to do it twice on my system in about 5 years and both times it knocked that crap out dead as door nails...don't try to skimp and use 2 part magnesium supplements use the kent tech-m only and you wont regret it. something in that mixture makes all the difference.
whats that red and green coral on the rock on the bottom of the tank??
Fritz, Watch your inverts when you raise that mag. My starfish got sluggish and I am not sure, but I think I started losing snails (hard to count). Emeralds made it through just fine. I didn't have many hermits, but they were fine too. The cleaner shrimp seemed to be ok too. I never got my mag higher than 1600, however....
Serpent starfish I found upside down on the sand one day, so I plucked it out and dropped it in the other tank. I'm just saying, keep an eye out. I was watching cuz I found on the internet, so I didn't know if it was true, that raising the mag had wiped out somene's inverts..
I am going to give normal supplements a try, If it doesn't do anything, after the next plucking I will water change down the Mag, then bring it up with Kent again. I need to give the BRS stuff a fair shake.
