Guess I better start cleaning the tank now so it's ready for the meeting in a few weeks... :)

Thinking of moving the Scribble, Goldflake, Lineatus pair, Starki damsel, 5x Lyretail Anthia and Semilarvatus up either tonight or tomorrow. It's cutting the QT on the Goldflake about a week short but I'm getting really impatient. Had them cooking since 5/15, 3 weeks in QT is pretty close to good enough.

Plain is to rearrange the rock work on one side of the tank (make larger hidie holes) and slap some eggcrate in the middle of the tank for a few days. Throw all the new peeps in the side with new rock and let them get settled in. See how this all works out...

You need a harlequin tusk in there to clean up all those inverts polluting your sandbed.

Edit: Not meant as a jab at the crabs. Would like to see a tusk in there, but it won't work if you have crabs.(you have crabs!!)

Still one of my favorite tanks!

I was just messing with ya. A Tusk has always been on the list, for some reason it's just been a ways down on the list. Brad had a nice one for sale here in Elko, if I was going to get one that would have been the time.

What you see there are actually snails. I've dropped 300+ hermits in that tank, I can find about 5. No idea where the crabs go.

If you're interested in that one I have it and am looking to sell it. It's a bit bigger than expected and my 155 with lots of rocks seems small for him.

Moved the new peeps up Saturday and had a egg crate divider in blocking off most of the existing dorks until tonight. Redid the rock in the side with new peeps so it's different for old dorks/newbies get comfy. Unleashed the hounds and lets just say it's getting interesting.

One of the female lyretail went Mia right away. Large lineatus is really skittish. This other wrasse I forgot the name of is also hiding almost always. Hope they settle down. Scribble and gold flake seem to be holding their own. Hopefully it's a quiet night.

Next up, shoal back in! :)

Moved the Sohal tang into the 450 over the weekend, overall things are going very well. Really not much aggression, little between the Powder Blue/Achilles/Sohal tangs but to be expected. Overall I'm really happy with how the kids are getting along. Scribble angel is still the runt of the big angel group but he's feisty as heck, will be fine.

Gutted the fuge. I've had enough with macro algae filters, they just don't take up enough to justify the cost. Either a little lacl3 or an ATS will outperform a macro fuge in my experience. Coupled with the maintenance a fuge needs it's just not for me.

Turned the 75g into a "cryptic" zone. Basically crammed it full of life rock and the plan is just not too touch it. No light, egg crate 1" off the bottom to clean under the pile. Packed the rock in fairly tight. Odd usually one is trying to keep the rock work open...

180g is basically ramping up to be a frag tank. Got the 6 bulb ATI t5 fixtures mounted and will make some egg rate frag racks or something. Will partition off a section for any non reef safe fish I happen to have/conditioning is my plan.

I'm slowly trying to convince myself a monster protein skimmer will be the answer to all my problems. I need to get a handle in the po4, short term I'll just pile in the lacl3. Next filter upgrade will either be a monster skimmer or upsize and perhaps LED up a 3' ATS. I wish there was more scientific documentation of the various effects of different size skimmers on systems.

So either it's coral time or I actually just made a 6' fuge out of the 180 hitting it with a lot of light. When I did thus before it grew all sorts of nasty stuff but the system was pretty new back then.

Still have that huge Atlantic blue? That gives you four acanthurus tangs I think. Must be a fun racetrack in that thing. Nice.

No Atlantic tang.

Tangs-
Purple
Desjardini
Chevron tang
Blonde naso
Yellow belly blue
Sohal
Achilles
Powder blue

I think that's it

Post 202 at the start of the video, big dark fish swimming in front of the naso. What is that? I thought it was an atlantic blue tang. My bad.

I'm pretty sure thats the Chevron Tang. At Marty's house meeting I was surprised that an adult Chevron looses all of its color and goes black with sorta speckly pinstriping. Its a really cool understated fish.

I could be mistaken though.

This is normal right? You all would tell me if I crossed *that* line right?

Please tell us that you installed a dedicated filter sock washing machine in your fish room.
