You completely suck. Where the heck you get those? I've half been looking (meaning I meant to look) for some for months. I never could get past the cooler temps/quietness of a tank they need to pull the trigger on those.

You really suck. I'm going to go get a shark from Riley and put it in your tank when your at work. But that's not the worst part of what I'm gonna do.... To really put you over the edge I'm going to take a class A 1 craptacular picture of your tank and post it online. That should really tick you off.

Good luck with those girls.

Let me translate:

My name is Putz AKA Marty

Imma idgit - imma always jealous

I cant keep up so I insult the masters that be

Just saying......ps very nice Chris!

I will be interested to see how these do, I had the chance to pick up group of ventralis a couple of weeks ago but like Marty I was concerned about warm temps and the activity in my tank, I knew QT was going to be fine but the main tank another story.

I've been looking for quite awhile myself. Blue Zoo Aquatics gets them in on occasion, but I got these from Triton Marine Aquaculture. I have the same concerns about temperature and aggression, I imagine only time will tell. Similar 'knowledge' was proclaimed about the small deepwater Red Saddled Anthias, which is exaggerated in my experience, so I'm hoping these are similar.

They were displaying to each other in the acclimation box and eating frozen after a couple hours, so they're off to a good start. Unfortunately, a couple of them are gill flashing so it might be a long quarantine. I hope all four make it to the display; I originally wanted just a pair, but figured a larger group might give them the confidence to stay out of hiding.

Good point about exaggerated 'knowledge'. Sometimes the advice in this hobby can get overly one sided.

I know that you've wanted these for a while. And with your patience and practices, they should have a good shot at making it.
I really hope all goes well, so we can see them in the main display with all of the others; another meeting or showing possibly?!

I have the saddled now and have had Vetralis it took me 4 saddled to get two finally in the main tank, they were not easy but last time I had Ventralis it took me 10 to get 3 long term, but as always millage may vary....

Thats a beautiful pair! I was three for three on the Red Saddled through quarantine and for awhile in the display, but when one turned male almost a year later he stressed one of the females to death. If you intended to get Red Saddled (P. flavoguttatus) you should let your supplier know that they're selling Lori's Anthias (P. lori). ;)

I got them from Kevin @ divers Den.
I may have to sue them LOL, I have had them for months so I don't think I can do any thing about it.

All nice looking fish, even if I have never heard of any of them. :eek:ldman:

So many things in the ocean, incredible.

Please please please give us an update of the dos. It is such a large investment for 2 pumps and want to understand is it worth the 350.

I got the new doser mounted and have had it running a couple of days. It's very nice to see how much has been dosed over time without looking at the logs. Previously I had just observed the small spikes in pH to make sure that alkalinity was being dosed when it should be. Now the amounts and times are always there when I log in to Fusion. The doser uses only one Aquabus connection and so it's freed up two outlets on my Energy Bar, which saves me a little space and money since I've been contemplating adding an EB4 to the system for my biopellet reactor and future needs. The unit will automatically dose in small amounts over a set period of time (e.g. dose 10mL over the course of one hour) which makes set up and changes very easy and promotes parameter stability.

Fusion- amount and doses per day:

People will find some cool uses for the pump beyond two part dosing. Because the pumps run at variable speeds and in reverse, it could be possible to use these for refrigerated food delivery. The pumps could run backwards on high speed to mix the food, pump some food down the lines and into the system, and then back into the container for refrigeration.

In the end, it matches my gray and orange plumbing and you can't put a price on that.

Future TOTM.

Prophetic :)

I got tank of the month over at R2R so now I'm cool like eschulist. There are a couple new pics in there but it's mostly old stuff and me pretending that I know what I'm doing.

The article on reef edition was well written out and very informational about your system! I think ecotech needs to send you a box full of goodies after all the good equipment shots you got in there!

Dosers look sweet.
Is your sump pretty much self contained? I don't see any salt creep or water condensation in there. And that screw still looks nice and silver.

Also congrats on the TOTM! I wasn't sure how long you were going to hold out on them. The tank looks amazing now. No reason not to show it off.
This also popped up on my phone as I was scrolling through facebook.

Congrats on the TOTM and blah, blah, blah!!!
Now they all know what we've known for a long time; your tank is incredible!

Isn't it amazing how long we hold out on automating some things and when we do go ahead with it, we wonder why it took us so long to do it. Adding an ATO, setting up a controller and then running dosing pumps, all of these progressions sure make our lives easier.
What's next on the list? I'm still waiting for your webcam with live streaming!

Once again, congrats on a great system!

How're the ventralis coming along? Updates?

There's a RC build thread where he has already done just that. The refrigerated food setup is described starting at this post: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1783476&page=55&p=23373040

Here's a youtube video of it in action as well

Thanks! I wasn't really sure what to write about, luckily they had a suggested outline that made it pretty easy.

The sump is open, but the water level never goes above half way and it has a plastic rim around the edge that probably helps contain it. Flow through the sump is pretty slow and I don't have any baffles or anything, most of the salt buildup is probably from me messing around.

I guess I'm behind the times! That's a great idea to use the tank water to clean out the food residue from the line.

...How're the ventralis coming along? Updates?

They are in the lions' den as of today. I think their flashing was just from flukes since it stopped immediately during the first prazipro treatment. They all stayed in the open for awhile and were eating but are getting chased around. A pair are still out after a couple hours and 2 others are hiding.

Beautiful fish but but his gut looks sucked up to me. Better try feeding him more.
