Spring 2015 TCMAS Saltwater Expo and Frag Swap!!!! (1 Viewer)

I was going to do a lmgtfy on how to take a joke but couldn't get to work on my phone. But really I was just adding to the previous posts.

In all honesty we do appreciate everything that is done here and most of us probably have no clue all the work that is put in.
 
I think it's fantastic TCMAS puts on 2 expos a year. That is a rare thing for any club in any kind of hobby. Thanks for the hard work!

Apologies - you happened to hit upon a sore spot. I get pretty upset when peeps put tons of work into events and such for the club only to hear complaints from members nit picking locations, schedules etc

Alas - I am still working on getting a thicker skin
 
This sounds great, I haven't been able to attend any meetings or club events yet; living and working down in Red Wing makes it hard to attend most functions. Question: I haven't made the plung of making my own frags yet, will I be able to buy frags at the event since I'm not in the position to swap / trade any?
 
Are there going to be any speakers or classes such as Aquascaping, Food making, Techniques on Target Feeding or any of the sort for us newbies?
 
Yes you will be able to empty your wallet on frags...

The expo has a rather short duration (few hours) to be able to add in this type of thing. Typically the classes are extras that happen every once in a while for members, there was an aquascaping one last fall, photography one coming up in a few weeks, I know there have been food making ones in the past as well. as for the techniques of target feeding, or other newbie type questions, I have found that most here would gladly share their information if asked, maybe via forum maybe at a meeting, etc.

I'm not sure of past Spring Expo's, but the expo is returning back to when it used to be held. Last spring was beautiful weather and that hurt us badly, so the commitee(not me) decided to move it back.
 
I just dropped 3500 bucks at aquaria Guru, that should get me a few raffle tickets,lol

Like Ohuno said, you do a GREAT job with this. The Duluth Aquarium guys and all those living north will like the location a lot. Those of us who started this club as the Rivers South Reefkeepers have to drive quite a ways to get there. Good thing there is only a couple of us oldtimers left...(and we are still able to feebly drive):). I'll come no matter where it is around the cities so no worries. It would be nice if you picked a south location at least once in a while though. Lake Elmo is kind of extreme north for a Twin Cities club. Let me know how I can help you find venues in the future, be happy to help.
 
Ok people ever expo people bich abut ware it is so many time we have started many threads asking people to help find new places to hold it. No one ever steps up and wants to help find new locations. You guys just want to bitch about the locations we use now. I'm really getting sick and tired of people bitching about where they are a lot of hard work and time goes into putting these on time that the take away from our family and friends. So if you don't like it don't go I'm sick of hearing people complain!!!!!

Sure didn't mean to upset anyone. I would guess the Lake Elmo location is inexpensive which helps a lot. I do appreciate your hard work a lot. The tone of the message must have been misread.
 
Im just glad you even have these expos, i been talking about doing one ln Duluth for a while now and it just comes down to not having enough people that would show up. The expo is a great place to meet other reefers, get great coral at really good prices, and it also is a main source of fundraising for my local club so we can afford to have speakers at our meetings and do other things as a group. So I say THANK YOU to all the people that makes these expos/frag swaps happen!
 
I have always enjoyed the expo, thanks for everyone's hard work on this! Lets see how fast I can get my system up, running, and stable now!!! I'll be starting fresh this year and having to get the tank and all the supporting equipment running again....this is going to absolutely kill my wallet and I can't wait, lol.
