Spring 2015 TCMAS Saltwater Expo and Frag Swap!!!! (1 Viewer)

while I like it in Lake Elmo the one Chanhassen was my favorite. I live 5 minutes from Lake Elmo. But thats not the point, the point is HELP, like if you can find a place post it to the BOD's. We have members all over, OPEN your eyes an ask QUESTIONS.

I like the house parties the best you get to see everyones tank were they like it and how it's set up. and a I still see the similes on on all of the faces. (especially when David Grigor brings his coolers of color)

Just think about it where can you take a nice ride and see someone else in the same hobby as you? And as for the swap what more could you ask for , GREAT PEOPLE and GREAT PRICES.

Lake Elmo is actually straight East of the cities, maybe a few degrees North, but it is on 36 which goes East out of St. Paul through Maplewood and Oakdale.

We will NOT start hosting our shows within the 494/694 loop, we have literally scoped and scouted almost every venue imaginable and they do not fit our budget and/or criteria. Taking that into account the shows will circle around the outside of that loop, and this venue is about 10 minutes outside of that loop (15 if you hit the lights, which most have been removed anyway). It is very much within the Twin Cities metro area, just as much as Medina, Shakopee and Blaine are, it is just on the East side instead of the West side.

I did enjoy CDT, but i dont know if we will do it there again, we might. The price for the venue was lowered because it was the only open date on their calender (not by a ton but enough) but that venue actually coincided with the worst attendance turn out we have ever had. That alone left a sour taste in my mouth about hosting in that area (KofC in Shakopee is another venue on our list), while it may have nothing to do with the area it may have been timing... who knows.

The event committee is actually in charge of finding the venues, and planning/organizing the events, not the BOD. While the BOD members do contribute quite a bit (they wouldnt need to if we actually had active people on the event committee helping us)

If your curious at all about where the best attendance shows have been, the best attendance weve ever had was 800-825, and that was a fall show at Lake Elmo Fairgrounds, and second place and fourth are also Lake Elmo Fairgrounds, while third was claimed in Plymouth at WMLCC. I love to move the show around, but the statistics have shown that when considering actual attendance numbers, the shows out East garner larger crowds.

If you want my honest opinion, we actually need to host a show in the northern areas as we have never done so, the Fridley VFW (5+ years ago now i think) was the closest we got to that and they gave us to many black eyes so that venue is not an option for us. The north (blaine, lino lakes etc...) or the north west (maple grove/osseo/rogers area) would be the next places i would like to scout for new venue possibilities.

I remember the first swap that I ever attended. It was in a small garage like place with very few vendors. Most of the corals were in bags and the selection was nothing like it is today. The swaps have come a long way and the lake elmo location is pretty sweet. I hope I can make it out there.

The expo is a great place to meet other reefers, get great coral at really good prices, and it also is a main source of fundraising for my local club so we can afford to have speakers at our meetings and do other things as a group. Just my opinion on the locations is that u could have it in Duluth and I would still make the drive from rochester and save the date because they are a blast to go to. Kudos to all of you that make it happen.

Also I went to the Iowa frag swap couple years back when they posted on here and I had to pay like 10 bucks a head or something like that. Totally worth it btw but I think our swap is just as good if not better and it's FREE!!

We drive 4 plus hours when we come to events and we go to most. A couple of us gals from up north plan to head down the evening before and we could lend a hand in the morning or even evening depending on our arrival time and when you guys are setting up. Let me know if we can assist.

Not everybody lives on the west side of town. God people complain way too much. Oh, no, I have to drive 30 minutes! I love that you guys do 2 events one on each side of town. I'm grateful for that.

Duluth might be a stretch, but im sure LSMAC wouldnt mind you heading up to their shows :D

in reference to the GIRS charging for attendance, this is very true, iirc they even charge members to go, just a lower fee. TCMAS is one of the only large metro area clubs that has free to attend events, and we are proud of this. Its nice to know that our even is comprable to theirs, even with their fee structure!

Just hold on to your receipts from any of our sponsors. You turn them in at the expo at the raffle table. Any receipt totaling at least $30 will be good for one ticket. You can not combine two or more receipts to add up to $30. You can however have two or more receipts over $30. Every $30 you spend is good for one raffle ticket, and you can claim up to 5 tickets total. So if I spend $40 at SWE and $100 at New Wave, I can turn in those two receipts for four raffle tickets. Receipts must be dated within 2 months of the expo.

Ahhh you mean I have to drive all the way to the twin cities for these things lol Angie I told you to have the expo's in Alexandria, lol ill be there... if the wife lets me :bow:
