Nice catch!
That's an interesting theory as to why it was flashing the clown. I know that my wrasses have found specific holes for sleeping, so that makes a lot of sense.

And it's interesting to see which wrasses become the dominant fish in a tank. I would've thought that my pintail would've been the boss based on size, but the Eight Line Flasher Wrasse was king right from the get-go. But I know that if you have a swarm of wrasses, the dominance will shift between various fish. The 300DD at LiveAquaria has about twenty wrasse species and Kevin says that the dominance will pass from fish to fish over time.

I equate adding more wrasses to a system lowers aggression from one dominate fish much like African cichlids.

Yeah for a flasher the 8-line sits in the middle of the road aggression for Cirrhilabrus. Isosceles sits toward the passive side but I have heard of and seen aggressive Pintails. I guess it goes to each fish stands on its own.

I have an 8 line and Pintail coming this week to add to the fray so we shall see

Thanks for the share! Beautiful wrasse. Is that a long tentacle plate coral on the lower right?
Thanks, Will. Hard to get its true colors when in person the tank was very blue at the time. I definitely need to do some more research on video editing as that was my first one. The coral in the front left is actually my indo gold torch, it was just near lights out and it tends to retract a bit when the countdown begins. I think it's at 7-8 heads now. I'll try to take a better pic during daylight hours.

Looks great! That clown is holding its own.

My Lineatus flashes at everything in my tank at lights out. He’s the tank boss.

How’s the Bathy?

Yeah I just moved the trumpet colony over to that spot a month ago and since then the clown has loved hosting it, whereas before it showed no interest in it whatsoever. There is also a large frogspawn colony and rainbow BTA she could host, but I guess she just wants to be a weirdo!

The bathy has been awesome. He's always super peaceful and doing his own thing throughout the tank. I'm seriously considering an upgrade to a 100gallon just to give these guys some more space (and maybe to add a couple more as well :) )

That's the only thing I could think of, but could possibly be something else! The lunatus is definitely the dominant fish in the tank, but is still a peaceful fish overall. They all get along well, which helps in a tank as small as mine.

Some pics of a couple acans under 16k Radions. Wish I could get better oics of the others but they never turn out.

Acan Lord Jackpot Acan

I've been dosing Acropower for around a month, and so far have been pleased with the results. One thing I noticed however was that the skin on my RRC OP looks thicker and almost like a powder is on it. Kind of interesting

Other sticks that are starting to take off. Grow grow grow!

This WD from POTO has been stalled out for over a year now. Maybe it'll find new life in the new tank.

I need to get some new pics of the lunatus. His color is truly something these days. Can't wait to see him in a larger tank.

These look awesome!

I really like the polyp extension that you're getting. Is this something newly associated with dosing AcroPower?? Or have you always had great polyp extension?

Yes, more wrasses!! (photos).
Does you last comment hint at a future build thread?

Your tank looks superb! So pristine!

Can you give a quick rundown of equipment/params/etc?

I have a slightly bigger system with good coral health and simple filtration but fighting with 3 kinds of algae. Red turf, bubble, and bryopsis. Added a fuge and it hasn’t helped a bit! Gah!

Polyp extension has always been pretty good, and I don't know why exactly. I don't have any fish that nip at them so that helps.

Yes, I purchased Adam's 525XL and have been trying to get things ready for it piece by piece. A build thread will be coming soon :)

Will have to test parameters this week and get back to you but I usually aim for Alk at 8, NO3 ~10ppm and PO4 ~0.1. I haven't tested Calcium or Magnesium for close to a year, but probably should.

Equipment:
Radion XR30 Gen3 Pro (Running a modified AB+ program, PAR only ~250 at highest points)
MP40 (Reef Crest 24/7 up to 80%)
MP10 (Reef Crest 24/7 up to 80%)
Aquamaxx HOB 1 skimmer (absolutely love it and recommend for all nanos)

For filtration I learned that keeping things simple and natural works the best (for me at least). I stopped using GFO, chemipure, purigen, etc. Water runs through filter floss (replaced as needed), then through my bio media (A LOT of Seachem Matrix), then skimmer and back out into the tank. I do keep a small bag of carbon in one of the chambers for passive filtration, but it's never a lot and I change it maybe once a month. The only dosing I do is through kalkwasser mixed into my ATO container, which also keeps pH ~8.3. I also started dosing acropower once every 3 days.

The above simplified filtration paired with lower intensity lighting and much higher flow is what seems to work the best for me. I also think the fact that the tank is 3+ years old plays a huge role as well. Hope this helped!

EDIT: For your algae I would recommend vibrant, however make sure and watch your nitrates and phos as my phos bottomed out when I used it to get rid of bubble algae and dinos showed up because of it. Took close to a year for me to get PO4 stable again.

This. ^^^
Vibrant knocked out my bubble algae in a flash but the dinoflagellates showed back up.

Looking great! I followed you lead and picked up a small Lunatus. Eats like a pig in QT. Has about 1 week left in QT.

Nice! Where'd you pick yours up from, out of curiosity?

NWA. Mine is little but all colored up with nice crescent tail. Yours?

Hopefully that means he's a young male with a lot of years left in him! I grabbed mine from NY Aquatics. They get some mixed reviews but I've received nothing but healthy fish from Michael. My main go-to is usually LADD though.

Yep.

I've heard the same reviewed about NYA. I've gotten some from TSM and PIA. Both have been great to work with. My female Bathy is transitioning now. Was in a race with the flame I think. But sadly, the flame just up and disappeared one day. Cant for the life of me figure it out. Its the second one I have had that has done the same thing. I think Flames hate me.

You and me both. I have had two gorgeous flames in the past and one passed away of old age (I presume as there were no external or internal signs of disease/infection when autopsied) while the other had an infection on its dorsal fin that I wasn't able to treat in time. I do however have 4 flame females in QT right now in preparation for the tank upgrade  LA had a great deal on them that I just couldn't pass up, however it was from the LA facility so I'm taking the QT process extra slow.

You'll love the transitioned bathy. A very underrated wrasse imo.

Thanks Ben. How's your frag doing?

Starting to encrust. Even survived my accidental Alk overdose to 12dkh the other day! First time I’ve ever done that. Had doser on manual to boost up as usage increased and needed to adjust frequency. Timer went off while I was on a work call and silenced it and remembered 2 hrs later. Emergency 50% WC and doser off for 16hrs and right back to 8dkh. Lucky.
