I've been reading a bit online that some hard core sps reefers have had success controlling mejanos with Raccoon Butterflies, they also have not been reported to mess with clams. Any local experience?

I had a Copperband, pre tank crash that would eat the aiptasia, not mejanos though... (Had a couple of mejanos survive the crash last May)... I have cut them out and they don't seem to re-grow, but I have some hard to reach ones. The downside of having anthias... need to feed....

I had a copperbanded also and it ate my aiptasia and and all those little tub worms you see in a reef tank. It took about 6 months of shopping to find a healthly look one that also eats frozen food. One of my favorite fish to watch.

inject lemonjuice into the anemone, it works:)

Two natural predators of the Majano Anem. would be the raccon butterfly fish and I read in a issue of "Coral" that the Tassled Filefish will also eat them. Aptasia are easy to control with many known and proven predators, the majano on the other hand are ten times worse. I am looking for a small tassled filefish to experiment with majano control.

Injecting these and Kalking them etc, do not stop them. In fact I strongly believe it helps to propigate them. I have layed on a heavy kalk solution for days on a problem area to see the anemone gone. BUT then it comes back twice as strong. Natural controls are needed. If any one knows where a healthy small tassled file fish can be found please let me know. Thanks Stan

Thats what I thought as well. I tried the kalk, not the others, no luck. Yeah the aptasia are easy :) I'm a little worried about the Raccoon with all my clams though. I'd hate to start over on the live rock as I've got some really nice pieces though I'm going to be re-aquascaping to a more Japanese style (very little live rock).

I was looking for something, didn't find much, I was looking to offend...

After doing some more research it is the seagrass filefish which are known majano anemone eaters. The tassled filefish will not touch them. I am currently looking for one for sale. If any one knows where one is please let me know. Thanks

Aren't filefish also acro polyp eaters too? ( not that one would damage your tank)

I too have the dreaded take over of these little b*****d anemomes. If someone knows a sure fire fish that eats these, please let me know also! Injections do NOT work.

The atlantic green filefish is supposed to be reef safe. It is the same thing as a seagrass filefish. I am trying to get some of these.
