Maybe, since I added more fish or maybe, I have been slacking on maintenance a bit lately. (I have extra family in my home AND it's basketball season.) Even though my phosphate has been reading 0, I have been noticing some nuisance algae in the tank and the glass needs cleaning more frequently. I have a BRS reactor and some GFO and charcoal that I could easily throw on but, how will I know how much media to use and when to change if my readings are already 0? When I ran GFO on my last tank, I texted phosphates weekly and changed media when my tests showed it going up again. Maybe I should just run it a day a week or something? I welcome discussion. I know I could just do what I think and see how it goes or look up a past discussion. However, this post gives a tank update and will possibly lead to some discussion which I have been craving.
Also, for reference, I have a small fuge which is going bangbusters (I throw out about an ice cream pail of chaeto almost weekly.).
On a side note, I know many of you run algae scrubbers. I would be open to this but, as I said, I already have the reactor and media and I wonder if an ATS is a good idea since my setup is mainly LPS. It seems often scrubbers clean things up too well. I don't want to swing things the other way and have to start dosing nitrates.
