Durand tank build (1 Viewer)

Oh, and depending on if you have the full Osmolator, there is a little dial inside the controller to speed up or slow down the pump if that helps you.

What pump do you have there? Looks like a varios? I have a new varios 2 that you could try if you think that could be the issue? Probably enough enough flow rate though?

I have that , the dial turned to min, since I was originally using on a nano, I just kept it at that setting. I could turn it up. But not sure it’s needed.

It’s the various 4. Thanks for the offer. I may try that if this doesn’t work or If my near by friends wont work. Thx

Looks beautiful!

Really well done example of how nice some pics can look well cut and stained!

Thanks, If I was to do it all again I would have done it all in alder. But since I love to upgrade so often pine was the cheaper route. LOL

Working on swapping out the old prime 13’s for some newer 16 hd’s. Have 2 out of the 3 right now.Guessing I have the 3rd by the end of the week.

Was able to get one of the mp10’s to create enough turbulence on Top of the water now that I dont seem to be collecting the slick anymore. I do suck in a little water now and again but only once in awhile.

Moving the ro Top off seems to help the pump from running as often at once. Still not helping with the overflow, but I think I have it dialed in enough to allow it to go up high enough to not go down the emergency and low enough to stay quiet. A little more time is needed to see. Bit been good for a few day now.

Decided to try adding a second co2 canister. See if the longer scrubbing time running through the media will hopefully increase ph just a bit more.

Current setup right before adding the second cannister.

And current reading under the tank

Also ordered some kalk powder from avast. See if that will mix a little better or create any different results in reactor.

It’s crazy you can’t get pH any higher than that with such low co2!

I would think it has to be a oh probe that’s either broken or not calibrated. No way your co2 is that low plus using kalk and still not getting it above 8.1. Super odd

Let’s put on our tinfoil hats here:

What if Neptune pushed an update to show lower pH so BRS sells more co2 scrubbers and Kalk??

I’ll order a new ph probe and see. I just calibrated the one I have that will be 1 year old Jan 1st. And after a few min being back in the tank after calibration sitting right back at 8.

I don’t get it either. 🤷🏽

Tried to nuke my tank today. LOl

Was doing a water change and didnt realize my temp prob was out of the water while cleaning the sump 🤦🏽‍♂️

So decided to make some changes. Move the temp prob along with ph probe to the return pump chamber. This puts the ph proble closer to the kalk dose tube. And moves the heater prob to the furthest point from the heaters in the sump. Think this might get my heaters to run a little longer(not a bad thing) and detect if PH spikes to high when dosing (also hopefully not a bad thing if not to close.

Also added an old iPad to the tank. So now I can quickly monitor things and always have a way to turn things off without chasing down my other devices.

In other news…. LOL
I put the 6 line back in the display and after less then a week its already chasing down my Melanarus, so pulled out the Nyos trap and will try and catch him and send down the road.

Been battling some Dino’s since moving things over in the sump frag tank. Ive been testing and my po4 keeps dropping to zero and no3 over 22. I started to feed more mysis and reef chili and if I stay consistent with that po4 will rise and no3 drops close to 15. I need to be better about feeding on my own daily for awhile and hope things level off eventually.

Making a wrasse den as well. I was able to glue most of it together and use very little silicone to just close up a few gaps in the bottom where i used plastic panel to close it up to hold the sand. I have it soaking now in saltwater just to clean it off before adding to the tank later today or tomorrow.

This Nyos trap is crazy. Only took two little feeding from a mixture of mysis, and reef chili shot right into the trap and 6 like was scooped right up. Back to the sump it goes until a new home is available.

Hard to get pictures. But wrasse den complete and sand added. Melanarus was already checking it out while I was filling it with sand. Will do a water change this week to suck out the extra sand that lingers. But guessing it’s will be a weekly things cleaning up the spilled sand. First pic is right after filling with sand. Second is before. Going out today to hopefully find a frog spawn to finish the froggy hammer oasis. 🤪

Shawn did you ever get that new pH probe in? I just replaced my old but very recently calibrated BRS probe on my frag tank with a Milwaukee SE220 and pH is reading .2 higher.

Got a new brs on today. Have not had a chance to put in yet. Most likely will set it up in the am. I’ll update once I have it in and have a reading to share.

New prob in. I decided to leave the old on in and run 2 ph probes. I recalibrated both probes. Ph 1 is the new one. Ph 2 is the old on.

My results were in the first prob location both probes read the same. But once I put the old one in the second prob plug on apex and recalibrated I got a way diffrent number. Is it possible the plug in ph 1 location is bad?

Try taking 2 cups of tank water out and placing a ph prove in each cup and see what readings you get.
That should eliminate any kind of interference in the tank caused by other probes, pumps or heaters.
