What overflow did you end up going with? Internal or external?

You are out of control. I love it. :)
Haha thanks. I thought I’m pretty reserved in my upgrade intervals compared to @reef junkie 😂

Current tank has been in service 3 years and the big thing prompting this one was a toddler turning 2 and the risks that come with that haha. Well that and the fact almost all my equipment will support a slightly larger tank!

Progress slowed with the weather so I haven’t been able to rip down more plywood outside.

Got the top frame all glued and screwed, thanks for the tip on predrilling @jlanger !

Also did a test as I read some plywood glues are water soluble. stuck a piece in water for a week and it stayed solid and laminated. So I’m feeling like between doubling up, gluing all joints, and using Topside primer and paint this thing is going to be solid.

Update time yet?
Update: no update

I ripped the piece for the top sheet of the stand and hand planed some of my plywood laminations to get the edges flatter.

Chris from Midwest called me 2 Fridays ago for a couple details and said the tank was getting made soon so any day.

Kid was sick for the 2 days in the last 2 weeks that I had time set aside for building so progress has been slow. It will get really slow when I get held up trying to figure out design to block the overflow box and have a removable top trim like the current tank.

Okie dokie small update.

Tank is done, picking it up next week!

Top and bottom frames all done and legs are cut so I just need to join everything and I’ll have a frame.

bottom frame has a supported sheet of 1/2” birch ply that I’ll seal up tight and have a good 3-5 gallons of spill containment accounting for the space the sump takes up.
