120g Acrylic Acropora Addiction (1 Viewer)

Aw shoot. Small oversight.

Forgot about the sump setup. New Bashsea sump (and all off the shelf models) is left to right configuration with opaque back so I would need to get ANOTHER new sump and the options are Synergy or custom from Bashsea or Advanced to the tune of $6-700

Anyone looking for a sweet Bashsea 30x18x16 sump??

I realize it’s more pipe/space and wouldn’t be as clean and neat as you’d planned but have you mocked up running the pipes to the other end for both the drains and return to see if that would be feasible?
So you’re still using the sump left to right but can have them right to left on the tank still.

I’d considered that but with the height inside the stand that would make it REALLY suck to remove the skimmer.

Good thought though! Longer drains would actually be more preferable to longer returns as water falling is free but pushing it up costs $ right?

You know what I may be able to make it work anyway @Chris Goetz thank you for getting the wheels turning.

I have the sump and the skimmer. My thought was to put section of soft tubing between the overflow and the sump for vibration dampening so if I just do 2 bowed around behind I think it could work. Then I just dump the emergency drain into the middle section or something.

I like that idea more than spending more on another sump.

My current sump is all black acrylic other than a window I put into the return section.

Agreed, I am obviously a sump newbie but I’ve done a lot of pvc plumbing. Given what I see there, I have full confidence in you to make that plumbing work without impacting skimmer access. You got this buddy!

Ok progress has been slow as I needed a helper every time I planed top/bottom and put back on the workbench to check flatness.

That phase is done and primer is done on the inside of the stand. Couple coats of Topside paint and I’ll start skinning and building doors. Gonna do 2 sets of double doors on the front, as 24+” is too wide for a single door imo.

Man I don’t remember the oil-based primer being so stinky but I had to move the operation to the garage as it stunk up the whole house for days.

2 coats of Topside paint later and we’re ready for skinning. I have the wood so hopefully this weekend I’ll make some good headway. Then I have to figure out how to enclose the overflow box end of the tank. I’m thinking a French cleated attachment to the stand.

Almost time to stain. I think I might go with the natural look on this one for something different to brighten up the space.

Bottom right is Pickled Oak stain with water based poly I’m leaning toward that. Makes it look like white oak to me.

I do like the peninsula idea even against a wall for easy access to plumbing and such. Can always make something to cover it from view. Looks good
