Okay, here you go!
The stand was starting to look worn and it was starting to annoy me. So I repainted the inside of the doors as well as any other place that needed a touch up. Much better!
Matt siliconed the edges of the tank to prevent leaks. Now we're waiting for it to dry clear!
Durso drain with emergency drain to prevent floods in case of a clog.
Over the back return - still needs loc-line.
Closeup of the return and the lid. Matt did an awesome job of cutting it to fit. There will be no carpet surfing here!
Coralife Aqualight 24" Double HQI. Originally had PC's in there. Mapierce7, the last owner, retrofitted two LED lunar lights in there. I like me some overkill, so I'm going to take the LED's out and retrofit either 1 or 2 Ecoxotic Panoramas in each side or 3 Ecoxotic stunner strips in each side.
Matt being amazing and doing the majority of the work... :gay1: Here he is rinsing out the 20L that we will be making my sump out of (with a 15 gallon drying behind him that he just finished rinsing) and then rinsing off salt-covered rock so we can cook it tomorrow!
I will be sure to take more pictures tomorrow!

Fully cooked rock! When it's laid out to dry like this, I have realized I have a lot less rock than I thought I had. I think I may end up purchasing some Pukani rock, either new from BRS or used from another member if someone has some.

Just a thought - I didn't feel like getting nasty foam on my hands. The acid was highly diluted and inert by that point.

Any particular reason why you went with the Durso vs. the Herbie, since you have the emercency drain, I think you would love the herbie much better. While the durso is quiet up top, it does cause noise from the bubbles in the sump and also salt spray buildup can be a pain. Herbie produces zero air so whisper quiet and not salt spray.

That's a great question, Dave. To be honest here, I don't really know much of anything about the particulars of various plumbing setups. I'm trying to learn as I go. I am trusting Matt's Judgement on plumbing the system. We used the plumbing that came with the tank, which was already partially set up for the Durso (minus the E-drain, which he made)! I'm always open to suggestions and tips that you would have though!

You will be much happier I believe with the Herbie. Basically just remove the durso plumbing in the overflow, put a bulkhead strainer in there near the bottom. The add a gate valve under the tank. Adjust the gate valve until the water level is just under the teeth in the overflow. The strainer will be completely submerged and thus zero air will go down the drain so no bubbles and completely quiet as it goes into the sump. The strainer is to keep the large stuff from clogging the gate valve. The emergency drain stays as is unchanged.
