120g Acrylic Acropora Addiction (1 Viewer)

Wow. That’s terrible  did the driver remember where he dropped it off or not a chance? I know geo data isn’t included in the delivery photo for privacy reasons to the customer but I’d assume they have access to it on their end? Maybe not

Wow, almost unbelievable. Hopefully at minimum there is insurance? Like I assume GHL will replace? Clearly you don’t want to wait that long. I hope it turns up :(

Nothing you can sleuth from the picture? Color of house or door? A plant that is unique?

Yeah UPS made it sound like they had geolocation. The picture was crappy but I can at least tell the house somewhat. Unfortunately there’s 100 just like it in my neighborhood :-/

Tough to imagine someone would have a use for a ghl light, and if they tried to sell it it would be pretty easy to know it's yours lol. Make sure to browse marketplace and craigslist regularly, along with ebay.

Looks built to last forever just like all things GHL. Super cool

Indeed, the power supply is like 50% bigger than the Quanta bars! I like this but not how clunky and cumbersome their stuff is with the cables etc. The power supply has a plug for the power cable, then has to go to this huge 4 way splitter with a port for the rj45 if you want to control the channels and intensity. Just a big cordy mess haha

Now you guys will think this is really hilarious: I’m scared to put the thing on because all the corals are really happy and growing a lot!

Believe me. I get the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Mantra. Just tell yourself this is going to double, or even triple the growth. :)

Mitras bar vs Quanta pro:

Mitras is 100w, Quanta is 72 so size and weight of the bar and power supply feel proportionate. The mitras heat sink is wider and thinner.

equally as important 😁 is your sand the flakes stuff. How is maintaining it?

It’s the “grand select” so basically crushed coral. It doesn’t move as much from flow but it’s all turning purple from coralline. As for maintaining it: would be easier if I didn’t have some much coral and a rimmed acrylic tank that makes siphoning harder.

Interesting how changes affect things in a mature reef.

Sold a couple colonies and swapped out my Quanta blue bar for the GHL full spectrum.

Alk consumption INCREASED I suspect due to the full spectrum light giving me better coverage even with the sacrifice of some of the blue wavelength.

My Heartbreaker colony has had kind of an abrupt reduction in polyp extension. It’s always been so shaggy you can’t even see the green base under the pink polyps. It’s the only coral thats changed and it along with everything else is growing so we’ll see what happens. As a rule I don’t make any changes for 1 coral, but from the testing I’ve done nothing has changed other than alk dropping a bit.

I did start boosting the calcium and magnesium in my NSW as it’s always a little low so those levels are always a little low in my tank, usually around 390 cal and 1200 something mag. I’m just boosting a little to get the NSW closer to 440 and 1350 so I’m not having to dose a disproportionate amount.

Interesting observations for sure. I always struggle with low mag as well. One of these days I need to figure out a daily dose to keep it up.

Nice to hear the Quanta bar is (likely) already providing results!

Just added one of the new Meridian Edge bars to cook frags on my rack before the expo. It was the only thing small enough to fit on my eurobrace. And the legs from my GHL light for perfectly with a little bending.

Totally overkill, I have it running at 25% but this thing seems bright enough to light a 10g reef by itself. You can actually feel the heat from the light intensity a foot below the diodes!
