120g Acrylic Acropora Addiction (1 Viewer)

Specially when you have grown it from frags. Looks great and you should be proud

Looking great, as per usual Ben

I’m always amazed how you have been able to allow all those acros space to grow and be beautiful.
Constant pruning and upgrades man!

I threw out a bowl of digitata a couple weeks ago, the acro frags at least people buy…

Added a forth MP40. I love the Tunze 6075 but it’s a real chore to get it in sync with the Vortechs for the flow pattern I want.

All 4 pumps are in corners pointing down the long pane, with each diagonal pump synced so u have an alternating “swirl” of the whole tank every 5 minutes

Behold, my custom decoupled shadowbox for my DoS pumps. Made with scrap plywood and a $1 piece padded carpet tile to absorb sound.

They are noisy so having them attached to the wall carries the resonant sound.

Only took me 4 years to get around to making it 😂

I gave a thumbs up, but I’m not sure I should be “liking” pumps that are so loud that they require a sound deadening, floating shelf :)

Dude, you’re not wrong! These are definitely a choice of reliability over noise, much like an AC return pump. This unit has been in service for four years doing AWC 1 gallon per day and the only maintenance I’ve had to do is change the heads once.

AWC 1 gallon per day
How fast do you change your water out? I do about 3 gallons per day but over the course of 5 hours. When I set it to change faster, the pump definitely ran louder. I ended up using my backup as a regular doser. It runs relatively quiet in comparison because of the much lower dosing requirements.

That’s a message I can like :). You know how I fully approve of robust equipment.

Mine runs 24hrs. Higher during the day and lower at night to mitigate the sound directly under my bed…

I have never experienced the older unit but I have the QD DOS I would definitely rate DOS higher in durability. Also when it comes to tubing even higher than Versa. Now I do have the 4 head Red Sea Doser I use for phosphate and mag ….don’t get me started on the controllability of it, so some reason it keeps dropping out of connection. Must not like my mesh network.
Plus 1 for DOS specially for AWC

Good to know! I should probably pony up and get a DOS QD, but I have a new in box regular DOS as a backup already haha

For all my other dosing I have a GHL doser 2.2 that I love. The best feature being a simple thing in the app that I enter how much product is in the container I filled and it alerts me before it’s empty. Come to think of it that sure ups the appeal of a GHL Maxi doser for AWC, but I hear they are just as loud as DoS.

I have a Maxi Doser, sometime I guess I could plug it in and see how noisy it is.
