16ANA 240G starfire mixed reef (1 Viewer)

no pics to show but made quite a few long pending improvements, built permanent elevated scaffolding on two sides to make working a breeze. removed a lot of temp things and made them.... ahem a little more permanent until the next change.

more on the salt in this pic later
DSC_0025_zps39690f9f.jpg

cleaned up the wiring big time.. most of it is now out of the way.

Also setup the two part dosing station prior to my vacation ..again the next best pic i can manage at the moment

Dosing Alk + Ca + Mg at the moment. I started auto dosing trace elements and iodine but took that offline before the vacation.

Doser is a Grotech IIINg + IV total of seven dosing pumps! the entire unit is hooked up to the Apex, auto shot off only based on PH at the moment. Other shut offs planned Low water level/high water level and funny temps

Drip stations - it designed to handle upto 15 drip tubes... not that I plan to do that but you never know what the next thing is on the 16ANA ;)

Things always happen.. the bad ones happen when you're not watching. Something ticked the skimmer off... my tank sitter calls me 5am and tells me the entire 50G fuge was a monster skimmer/foam tub. He must be joking.. so I calm him down and turn the skimmer off remotely. Well he wasn't joking... everything in the "room" has salt spray.. most cleaned off very easily..but there's more to go -

The spray made it to the roof (remember everything in the sump setup is elevated) Even the ATS Leds and drivers got caked, Thanks to LED sealant the lights still work. you may want to ask why the Led's did not have lid or something well.. it did not go back in place after the cleaning/scrubbing.

Good thing is I had inspected every electrical circuit and sealed/moved stuff prior to the vacation

The skimmer is still offline :)

Life goes on, some new additions :)

prep! the drip is managed by a fitting from a medical drip bag, very simple device that has been very useful to me -

The pics are obviously grainy, someone messed with the settings and I haven't taken to the time to reset the camera.

Some random Coral pics

Algae looks like caulerpa. I have heard if you keep it contained it can be fine depending on the species, but can be invasive if it goes sexual. Keep it out of your display....
Tank looks great, keep the updates coming.

Love the Lyretails I had a few in my last tank and will absolutely have a bunch in the new one. I would love to come take a look at the system. You ever going to host a meeting?

looks like you're going to be busy.

I got nothing but cleaning done today. Way to much junk spread out across too many rooms. It was time to do something that would make the wife a little less annoyed.

Have not been able to get a positive id on what type of caluerpa; I've kept two types before and they were ok but in smaller systems. Dont want to chance it in a large system

I would love to host a meeting except I am not able to commit to a date as I get to travel at rather short notices. maybe sometime this year soon :)

Usually home after 5 M-F ..weekends are fluid but mornings are usually doable... .so if you want to swing by just give me a call.

Heyhey... fish stuff ha!? I have stuff lying around for the last three years.. I cleanup and next day I need something in a rush they never get put back. since its in the basement and out of view my wife does not remind me as often :gay2: but I plan to cleanout next time... basically sell/FIF anything that I havent thought of in the last 3 months...

^ UFO Micro;

interesting tidbit - anytime I tell my wife I want to make room in the tank... this one gets pointed to first saying its not going anywhere; mention this in any other context she does not remember its in the tank. Must look really good!

I like it too but its grown quite slowly for me. maybe needs to be target fed more often than the zero times so far :biglaugh2:

Tested the Params after about 6 weeks as the SPS dont look so hot,

Temp - 77.8
PH - 8.0
Ca - off the charts with a Salifert kit, I'm guessing its about 550
Alk - 7.7 dkh
Mg - 1250

Having a hard time bumping up the alk to 9+, the last time I tried this about 6 weeks ago.. this is what happened -
