-Meeting- 2025 Elections and Annual Business Meeting 10-25-25; in Lakeville, MN (1 Viewer)

Added to Calendar: 10-25-25

@Reefer Oz Don't you take my lifetime membership away yet with your restructuring

HA! Come to the meeting @Nickz and make your vote count!

But not to worry (perhaps), one of the ideas we are proposing is that anyone who has dutifully served on the BOD will retain/receive Lifetime status.🙀💪🏽

not going to make the meeting, I know that much. I do know the biggest business meetings I ever attended were ones where lifetime membership was threatened.

Side note: I think everyone should try a BoD position at some point. Most positions don't take to much time from life and it helps give an understanding of how the club works.

Awesome Todd! It will be good to have your perspective in our discussion. Go ahead and RSVP @Dadzilla11 so our host gets a good snapshot for food prep.

I will send address to all who RSVP and those who show interest here. And don't forget about absentee ballots for those who want to vote on the new BOD members...............
............AND.......................
............WE STILL ARE LOOKING FOR A TREASURER!!!!! If we don't get interest in the next couple weeks, the @BOD will have to do some restructuring to fill that position. There may be other positions open, so if there is interest in ANY spot on The Board, please give a shout and help us out.

To maintain the forum (with all the glorious classifieds and giveaways), support in person meetings and a banging Spring Expo we rely on the time and energy of volunteers. Without a solid leadership circle, these things will not be possible or FREE. If you have ever got help, information, inspiration, bought/sold something, been to a meeting, been to the Expo or are reading this..........................got some time to give back?🫡🙏

Yes it does, it is a meeting by all definitions.

Does attendance count towards a 1 year membership? also any presale's for Sunday's event?
As @Nickz mentioned, attending a business meeting definitely earns full membership. It almost worth more than a regular house meeting! But we will be discussing such thing then.

If you can RSVP above so we can get a head count on those planning to come, @Pezillion, will PM the address.

As far as presales go, we are not the hosts of the ReefingUSA show. So there are no presales on the forum. But reach out to any of t he vendors and let them know what you are looking for.

I don’t think there is anything stopping the club from having a pre sales forum for the reefingUSA event

Unless someone wants to actively be against it, I would recommending throwing it open. [emoji2375]

Also my 2 cents - have people sign up for tcmas on Sunday and the club can cover $5 entry fee to the event. Drive up membership

Also cover the fee for existing tcmas member. Thats the advantage for being a club member vs a facebook lurker. That’s how some of the other regional clubs have done it in the past

Great ideas Nox! But tough to implement 2 days before the event…

We put on the Spring Expo at no cost to members or any local reefers, which eats up a majority of the clubs annual budget. This is a good discussion point for the membership and BOD at the business meeting!

Bam, you just did ;) I don’t recall there being a special application process.

Will you be able to make it to the business meeting? Please feel free to reach out to @spsick if you have any questions about the role (beyond what is listed on the forum here). I really appreciate you being willing to consider it.

Looking forward to meeting you next week!

It should be stated, we’re still open to as many interested candidates as possible. So others shouldn’t hesitate to throw their name in as well!

@Reefer Oz and I were talking at the Reefing USA expo: @Varig , would it be possible to get breakdowns of each board position's tasks on a weekly/monthly/yearly schedule? I know I can't run for treasurer due to the time commitments, but there might be better options depending on how the timing works out.

The duties of the BOD are outlined in article 3 of the bylaws, available on the home page. A couple edits will be solidified at the meeting to outline that each of the directors has a role managing sponsorships and the expo, respectively.

As far as a schedule, all roles are as needed within those definitions. It is “all hands on deck” around the expo for all board members with much discussion and in-person time invested. The Secretary role has a regular schedule Josh could better explain. The treasurer role specifically follows a schedule:

Weekly/Monthly:
-purchase and deliver gift cards to winners
-pay insurance, web server fees
-post all receipts
-discuss any necessary financial decisions with BOD

Annually:
-file state/federal tax forms
-prepare financial summary for business meeting

This amounts to a couple hours a month.

As President, I'm mostly just here to be eye candy. :)

Honestly, most of my time is spent herding cats, but the BOD has things running so smooth that there isn't much herding to be done anymore. Certainly the President can do as much work as they like, but I've taken a hands-off approach in most cases and just let the team do their thing.

Alright, I'll bite. I'll throw my name into the hat for Treasurer.

A little about me - I've been in and out of the reefing hobby for many years now, though I'm sure most of you have seen me around various events, most notably the yearly expo. I currently reside in Lakeville and work as a corporate professional. My professional background is vast ranging from early stage startups to Fortune 500 roles, and things in between, and I currently hold an MBA degree from Hamline University. TCMAS has been instrumental in my learnings thus far and continues to teach me every day, and I believe stepping into this role will allow me to better understand all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes and enable me to help those - new and seasoned - join and enjoy the reefing hobby as much as I do. Thank you for your consideration.

@BlindSwordsman Ken I better see you at the meeting 😁 I am expecting you.
I came to your holiday meeting… btw are you still doing that this year. I’m craving the food you made

That's a good point. Can I bring anything to the meeting?
