3 Foot Nano Tank (1 Viewer)

^ sorry my idea for a fish didnt work out.... wish i woulda known i would of purchased it from ya... they can be fiesty but i still love em...

oh btw where is aprils FTS???

No need to be sorry. The psuedo was great for a long time, and my clown and midas seemed to get along with him. But that fish would have chased the firefish all the time. And I wanted that fish more.
I should have posted it on the FS section as I probably would have gotten more for it than store credit, but Jon gave me a good deal on the Helfrichi.

April FTS.... I don't have a whole lot that is new or has grown larger. I was thinking I'd wait til the swap and take one after I have a few more new corals in the tank. I'd make a new video then as well.

Here is a little teaser picture for two videos I'm currently uploading. Nothing fancy but viewing the tank this way every so often is very cool.

What do you have going on for dosing/filtration?

Filtration is pretty simple. Doing the KISS method as much as possible. Sump with a filter sock for mechanical filtration (Changed out 1-2 times per week). BRS Dual reactor with a small amount of biopellets in chamber 1, mixed carbon and gfo in chamber 2 (Changed every 2 weeks). And thats it. Top off is done manually with standard RODI. My goal is to eventually add a high quality ato like the tunze or elos and have kalk added to that.

FRAG SWAP CORALS

Acclimating them next to the tank.

The orange SPS pieces I was looking for months ago. An orange Leptoseris with yellow eyes, an orange pavona, and a leptoseris that is solid orange.

The orange SPS as well as my platygyra that I've been on the lookout for. Unfortunately it is a little big for where I want to put it. I'm going to be looking for someone with a band saw to cut it into 2-3 pieces.

Full Tank Shot to come tomorrow.

And for a little story. On saturday when I was acclimating the new corals I could have really screwed up my entire tank. I was drip acclimating the corals into the jar shown above and was waiting for it to fill. After it would fill for the 2nd time I would do a my revive wash to them. While it was dripping though I went to grab a soda from the company fridge and ALMOST went down to the parking lot 6 levels below to grab some jugs of RODI water, but I waited until the corals were finally in the tank to get them. When I finally go downstairs to grab the jugs I go into the elevator and realize I left my keycard on my desk!!! I was locked out and could not get back upstairs!! If I had gone earlier while I was drip acclimating the corals I would have been stuck on the first floor as my jar continued to fill with water. Eventually it would have overflowed the jar but would have continued to pull water from the tank until the sump was empty!

Luckily that didn't happen but I am still worried that something could have happened in the last 36 hours and I wont know about it until I get back into work tomorrow. Right now three 5 gallon jugs of water are just sitting in the lobby, lol.

That sounds like a pretty scary thing to happen but its a good thing you finished acclimating them first!

Btw I LOVE Orange Pavona so I can't wait to see it grow out for you! Tank still looking good, if I wasn't so busy with Work, AP Tests and ACT Prep I would let you use my band saw.

Very nice nano, Eric.
Long-time follower. First time poster.

I have always wanted to add a small tank to my desktop at home, but just haven't convinced myself to pull the trigger.
If (When) I do, I'll be using your tank as my model.
Maybe now that my 120gal upgrade is just about complete, I'll start thinking about it again.

Great job!

It quickly became a favorite of mine once I found out about it through my "suggest to me some orange coral" post. And then I saw Girgors full colony and had to have one. He said its a really slow grower so it probably wont look like much for atleast another 2 years. Thanks for the offer to cut it up. Maybe in the summer if it still hasnt been cut up I'll take you up on your offer.

Gald you like it! I had a chuckle when you said first time poster. Sounded like someone calling into a radio contest. lol.

My tank is almost complete as well. Its slowly moving into the growing phase. The nano is such a good choice if you can keep it stable. The small coral frags already look nice in a small tank, and the maintenance is quick and easy.

As promised

If I had more money I would invest in something similar (long, narrow, black, sleek looking fixture) but with more colors, color adjustment, and dimming. Right now I have many of my white LEDs covered to keep it from being too intense and to look more blue.
