3 Foot Nano Tank (1 Viewer)

God, there are some days I just feel like giving up.

I did everything. Super slow drip acclimation, separated the fish, lights out for the entire first day, made sure he got food and he still passed away before my eyes today.

This box of water is depressing.

been hit or miss for me with every pigmy angel ive ever had... I have had the best results with buying them from other aquarists... if I buy them from lfs or online the mortality rate is very high.. maybe that's just me though

How low was the salinity in the bag? Usually when you take a fish out of hypo you adjust them over the course of a week.

Salinity was 1.018 if I remember correctly. I did the drip over the course of 3 hours. Switched the water 3 times while bringing it up to 1.025 It was the best thing I could do since I don't run additional tanks at work.

You said you bought this fish from Petco Minnetonka correct? Not an online retailer? Reason I ask is because my first though had to do with a super slow acclimation, in which high ammonia levels in the shipping bag are unlocked due to the increasing pH level.

Good point. He said it was still in the bag from the wholesaler. High ammonia combined with rising salinity is a recipe for disaster.

Ya it could be those things, I dont know the true reason for the demise. He seemed fine Tues afternoon and Wed, he hid all the time but I figured that normal for a new fish. Then Thursday he was just breathing hard and was always laying sideways in the sand.

That sucks :( that is one of the fish I am thinking about adding to the 45 if you are going to give it a go again have Jason take it out of the bag at the store and let it acclimate there. It's hard to say how long it was in the bag before you got it or how much it ate before it was put in the bag in the first place. But I think Marshall is right and it may have just been in the bag too long.

I probably missed the post if there was one made about it but are these angels nippers? It is it just like the rest of the angelfish who may nip?

Ya updates!!

I check the forum once and awhile but I've just been too busy lately to get new photos up.

New Porcelain Crab

My clown has never shown interest in the bubble tip anemone so I figured it was time to get a cool symbiotic relationship going,

August FTS

I've put this photo right next the last FTS and while I can see growth on lots of corals, and notice the few small additions and loses, not much has really changed.

Midas was a little shy this month, see if you can spot him.

July-Aug Pictures

Taken awhile ago and just didn't find time to post.

Frogspawn sent out some long tentacles and the duncan grabbed one and never let go. A few weeks prior to this the torch did the same and the frogspawn grabbed 1-2. The frogspawn has now inherited a few of these super long tentacles without the bumps making the right most head similar to a torch coral.

Black Background Style

This was done using a large piece of construction paper taped to the back. I want to eventually get a piece of matte acrylic cut to size to easily switch back and forth. I like the look of the black but only for a few days. Its just cool to change it up once and awhile.

Absolutely incredible looking.
I wish my photography equipment/skills would produce photos half as clear and colorful as these.

Every time I visit this thread I want to set up a smaller tank for a couple of gobies and a blenny.

Are you going to try another flameback angelfish?
They were one of my favorite centropyge sp. from way back in the day; still are. Great splash of contrasting colors.

The female Lamark's Angelfish that I have was purchased in the same manner as your flameback.
I drip acclimated for an hour and a half in the dark and she did fine right from the get-go.
She stood her ground against two tangs and the anthias. Tough little fish.
Is your pseudochromis that aggressive?

The small tank is fun, its pretty much at max for stocking and the corals I've had for 6 months - year are encrusted and growing nicely so things looks more natural. A large tank would take a few years to look like that.

I just have to accept that I am done with fish. The Midas and Clown are the culprits I believe. They chase the Pseudo away if he tries to act tough, and the Midas will nip or bite my fingers if I am feeding them food. The only way I would do new fish is if I sold or traded all of them at once, and I like them too much to do that.

Well... accept it as a success.
The variety of shape and color in such a small space really make it a piece of living art.

Hopefully not all Midas Blennies are that aggressive.
I'd like to add one to my 120gal eventually. Maybe in a larger system they'll be more tolerant.

The AC went out at work today. 90+ degree temperatures at the office due to over a hundred running computers and servers. I put a fan on a shelf to blow air across the top of the water. Now I have to hope for the best.

Tank survived the AC going out last month. It lasted about 3-4 days but I had fans going whenever I could grab one.

In recent news my RBTA split in 2. The nicer of the split went on a short trip behind the middle rock and the smaller lopsided one moved slightly further down the front of the rock so at least that one is still visible. If either of them start walking around any further one or maybe both will be for sale.
