Picked up a new RODI on Black Friday. So now I have a project over Christmas vacation. Question on the float valve. Its adjustable and I rotated the float 90 degrees. Is there any issues with installing it on the top of the tank with the water line going vertically down?

I have an adjustable installed in the top and works pretty well. If you don't have a flat area on the drum, it may not seal very well but that doesn't matter a whole lot if the water never reaches that level.
 
Looks like someone's ready for those 300% water changes.

Finally got a day off between Christmas and New Years while day care was open so I had some free time to hook up the RODI and build a stand for the water reservoir. I originally bought a saddle valve to attach the filter to my main water supply but after seeing some youtube videos and hearing horror stories of those leaking I went with a more sturdy solution.[/FONT]

[FONT=&amp]The tank was found on craigslist with the brass garden hose valve already attached. Should I use a very small length of garden hose (6") to fill the jugs? Or remove the brass valve and install a pvc ball valve and 90 degree elbow? [/FONT]

Got a few new pieces finally installed at the bottom of the container so I could get rid of the copper valve. Turned on the RODI unit and was amazed at how clean our water is!!
It has even dropped down to 8 since taking this photo. All its really doing is removing the chlorine and probably some minor trace metals from the pipes.

 
double check, but the IN is probably after the RO membrane. they usually wire them up as IN to the DI stage and OUT from the DI stage.

if you've changed that to measure incoming tap water then that i awesome, but it is really low for city tap water.

[FONT=&quot]After waiting forever for the Neptune Cor I decided to get a Jebao DCP pump to at least get all the plumbing in place and run some water tests. The pump should be here by next week sometime. In the interim I made myself a little jig to bend some pvc pipe. Decided to buy some crap pipe to test it on before I use the fancy formufit stuff.[/FONT]

Looking really nice! Did you heat bend those pipes? Also- do you only use the large filter sock for siphoning sand?

Yep I used a heat gun and long springs to prevent kinking.

Right now I use 4" mesh socks on my current tank. They are used 24/7. The new sump will have 7" felt socks. The standard ones are made 16" long but these little guys are only 8" and fit in my little sump.

Thanks guys. I hope it works as well as it looks. Thats the one fear in the back of my mind. I put this all together and its a loud gurgling mess.

Looking great! I've been running mine for a week or so.. A couple of tips:

1. The first overflow chamber quickly became a detritus trap for me. I'm experimenting with a longer run of PVC coming off the bulkhead to get flow to the bottom of the chamber to keep stuff suspended so it makes its way to the filter sock. Your sump is not as tall, so it may not be a problem.

2. That foam pad works better if you jam it underneath the stopper. Keeps it from floating away when the water level isn't ideal. If you're dosing two part there it might also help things dilute.

Thanks Chris. I thought you would have been running your ZeroEdge sump in your Elos for a few months now. Get some new pictures posted of it set up.

Thanks for the tips. I see varying advice on the drain pipe. How far down below the waterline does yours go now? Does it have holes or slits cut into the pipe to help purge the line? I'm worried that Im going to have 2 drains dropping 18" vertically and its going to hit the sump waterline and be extremely loud.
Did you glue either of the pipes connected to the sump bulkheads?
