55g turn-around (1 Viewer)

I'm excited to see the 55 come together now! One more thing; when you post your for sale thread, give it more than 1 day before lowering the price a lot this time haha

Well it's kind of hard to sell it when someone posts saying it is overpriced (no offense Jace, I understand your reasoning).

Well...I have no idea what to look for to get this thing back on track. I could sell the 55g and buy a pre-drilled 55g to add a sump.....?

You are getting wiser and wiser by the minute haha! You could probably get a nice 4 bulb t5ho fixture for under 200, and then a sump would also be a good way to spend that money IMO. Also maybe some more powerheads, you only have one meh-quality one right?

Pretty Much...

So I'm guessing sell pretty much everything in my 55g and start over with a drilled tank w/sump and T5HO lighting? (and keep live rock, but probably ditch the crushed coral)

I think you would have enough $$$ after doing that to start over with a wonderful new (yet used) setup!

Definitely ditch the crushed coral, go with a true sand bed you'll be much happier with the result IMO.

What's your 20 gallon like? What is the LED set up? Pics? Just curious, might be interested, in which case I could pick up your frags and bring you test kits, if you decide to sell it that is.

Usually 1-2 inches but it's all about preference, a deeper sand bed requires more cleaning, personally I like a deep sand bed but I know a lot that don't. My current sand bed is not deep enough for my liking, I need to remember to buy more one of these days.

You probably put height of the tank where it said "desired sand depth". It's 48" X 13" right? For 2" sandbed it comes out to 51lbs

We could do that, however the two tests you need the most I don't have to give FYI, meaning I have a nitrate test but only one and I need that. I don't currently have a nitrite test, I need to pick up a new one, however I do have extra calcium tests, dkh and perhaps some others, I'll keep looking. P.S. You do not need 523lbs of sand, that is way off!

Didn't you say somewhere that you want more rock in this tank? If so, why are you selling 30 lbs of rock from your 20? Why not put it in here. Its always cheaper to use what you have instead of sell and re-buy.

I think you had a redo thread on your 55g less than 6 mo ago too. You might want to think about what went wrong from then till now that lead it to need another turn-around. Once you think about that, then you can set out with a plan for how to proceed that addresses those issues so you aren't doing another "re-do" 6 mo from now.

Also, if this is the 20 that had the cracked rim, you need to disclose that in your for sale thread.

Ok well the thing that went wrong 6mo ago was that we didn't have an RO system, didn't really change anything, still had a nano sucking up money and was pretty much buy a skimmer and be done.
