acharpenters 40 breeder to 57 build (1 Viewer)

Awesome! and you'll love it. I do still haul 5 gallon bucket up the stairs, but way better then driving around for water.

And now I'm trying to figure out of I could swing a 40 breeder in our house somewhere. Baby steps ;)

I am putting it on a acrylic board that will sit in the guest bathroom tub

Much better than all the buckets and hauling water up and down the stairs and to and from locations to pick up and bring home

Beginning the aquascaping.

Getting the left side ready for the shrimp/goby trio. Clearing out the aragonite on the left side to put in a layer of sugar sand (ty Eric!!) then a layer of aragonite on top of it. I chiseled out a nice den in a rock that will go there for them as well.

Tank is cycled and hoping to get everything transferred to the new tank in the next few days.

I am having issues getting my ACIII accessible from the network. I could spend hours researching it to figure it out but I just dont have the time before I move the livestock over so wondering if someone would be willing to swing by???

I have been seeing pieces of a sponge here and there around the tank in the last week.

Tonight I figured out what was going on when I watched my Tiger Pistol shrimp snap the base of a sponge to use it for his den.

In this pic - you can see on the left - a piece of free sponge he must has nabbed earlier this week. On the right - you can see the "branch" he just snapped free while I watched.

So basically my Tiger Pistol shrimp has become a lumberjack

Tiger Pistol Shrimps are notorious (sing as Duran Duran here) for pillaging the reef for structure in their burrows.
My shrimp would steal frags (zoas, acans and goniopora) and pull them down into the entrance. One time I even caught the shrimp trying to pull a small derasa clam towards the burrow; not a shell, a live clam!
But I wouldn't give them up for anything.

I wouldn't give him up either!!!

I knew they would grab anything for their den - hence I glue down anything I want to keep - but I had no idea they would grab hold of a base of sponge and snap it until they got a piece free.

It is low to the sand bed so I guess I am not surprised he is doing it since it is in his reach and just outside one of his den entrances - but can you imagine if this was a prized SPS?

After messing around with my router and controller for a month I gave up and asked for help
He came over tonight and fixed all as well as set up programming on the ACIII for the new tank - like 3 hours worth of trouble shooting and set up.
So awesome to have peeps like this in my life to help me out
Thanks dude - BIG TIME

PS - at first glance - looks like his is sitting there in a red polo shirt and nothing else- look closer - he is wearing khaki shorts - lol

I finally spent 3 hours yesterday getting the UV, second heater, fan and sump light installed. All is finally online and auto controlled. I should note - an hour of that was cord organizing

My controller emails me tank status every hour.

So rather than worry about getting a UPS to make sure I get emailed if the power goes out - I just know if I dont get a tank email every hour - likely the power is out.

Finally have this all set up how I wanted it

Now - to decide which 2-3 fish I will add......? I have 2 Randall's Gobies, a pair of clowns, a McKoskers Flasher, Midas Blenny and like 5 Blue Chromis. Thoughts?

Candy Basslet.
Blue-lined Tamarin Wrasse.
Hypomelanistic Flame Angel.

That should do it. You're welcome.

Actually... would you consider a basslet?
I think a Royal Gramma or Black Cap Basslet would add a splash of bright color.
Or some Dart Fish; Firefish, etc?
Or if you can feed them; Filefish or Dragonets?

I'd recommend a smaller pygmy angelfish, but my little Lemonpeel Angelfish likes to nip on my rock flower anemones a little bit; nothing drastic but it irritates the anemones. So, I would consider one of them a possible risk.

When I asked Kevin about it tonight - he wants a Flame Angel - so now down to 2 different fish or a pair....

I wont hand feed or feed frozen on a daily basis - has to eat dry.

Royal Gramma sounds/looks appealing but I think I really want a fatter/bigger fish......
