Adam G’s 8ft Rimless Reef (1 Viewer)

F5B10708-3958-4BC9-8443-AEF4A96D23D0.jpeg Well, I did the deed today and added the 8 Bartletts Anthias in quarantine to the tank. 5 of them were in my old tank and I bought 3 more females a month ago.

When I broke down my Reefer 525xl I put my established 5 Bartletts in quarantine with the 3 females. Did this for 2 reasons: the first was I was already adding all of my other fish (at least the ones I could not catch with the fish trap or get them while they were sleeping) and I did not want to overload the new tank with 20 new fish at once. And reason number 2 was I wanted the 8 Bartletts to establish a pecking order in quarantine so I could intervene if necessary.

So far my plan is working well. 2 weeks ago I added about 12 fish from old system. They have been doing great. Today I added the 8 Bartletts and so far so good. The 7 Lyretails and 8 Bartletts are being a little chippy with each other but overall no major aggression. So other than a wrasse or 2 I am done adding. I am bracing for some possible losses but I have done all I can to quarantine and take my time.

So as of now I have the following:

1- Achilles Tang (New)
3- Blue Reef Chromis (New)
7- Lyretails Anthias (New)
5- Azure Damsels (new)
8- Bartletts (3 new, 5 had)
1- Flame Angel (had)
1- Yellow Tang (had)
1- purple Dottyback (had)
4- Wrasses (1 new, 3 had)
2-Clowns (had)

Total Fish 33. Total New Fish 20.

So far lost 1 Kole Tang (died day 1 in new tank) and 5 Azure Damsels and 1 Lyretail Anthias
in quarantine to what I suspect was bacterial infections they came in with..

I put my Powder Brown and 1 Green Chromis in my frag tank. Didn’t want them causing trouble to my Achilles or my Blue Reef Chromis

I was able to stop in and see this system yesterday and the photos do not do it any justice, this tank is bursting with color!!!

How have the Azure Damsels behaved?

So far so good. They each have a little territory in the tank. They set up pretty evenly spread out. When one gets too close to another’s territory they will give chase. Yesterday they were chasing away the new Bartlett’s as well. I expect this to end once everyone settles in because they do not bother any other fish, only other Azure Damsels. I think it is just them all getting used to each other.

awesome tank Adam. I"m not sure how I missed your build thread earlier but I read the whole thing tonight. All I can say is wow!

So this little guy has become my prettiest Acro yet. Growing like mad too. Anyone know what it is? Pretty sure I got it from Aqua SD.
