So I picked up a 65 gallon setup a few months back but as algae started to grow on the glass it started to fill the scracthes near the sand bed making them more obvious and making the OCD in me look for a new setup. So... I picked up a 75 gallon reef ready tank, stand and canopy on Craigslist, they were using it as a freshwater setup......
I picked up 40 pounds of pukani from brs a week and a half ago as well as over 120 pounds of fiji pink. I used some of my sand and lr from my 65 to seed it, hoping to expedite the cycle/curing.
I also added 2 brs dosers this weekend and set them up for calcium and alk. (Right now I am using the dosers with microbacter7 and vodka to get the bacteria to get a move on it)
I also added a brs carbon reactor with gfo and zeovit (installed on the outside side of the stand for room in the sump)
Also, picked up a 30 gallon glass sump/refugium awhile back and put it into the stand, added miracle mud, some of my live sand, lr rubble, chaeto, red macro, added a nano powerhead and bought a small shop light from menards with an led grow light.
The plan for the lighting is to use my t5s from my 65 gallon once everything checks out to move it all over and get rid of these pc lights. I will have to make some sort of frame/stand/legs for the light as its a 36" light for a 48" tank. Any ideas here are appreciated.
My wife and I are going out of town until February 15th so the thought and hope is that by the time we get back home the tank will be cycled and ready to go.
There will be quite a large load in the new tank (I do significant weekly wcs)
Stocklist:
Tiny blue hippo tang
Small scopas tang
Pair of oscelarris clowns
Scooter Blenny
Lawnmower Blenny
Green coral goby
2 firefish
Randall's pistol shrimp and Randall's pistol shrimp buddy
Black ray shrimp and Randall's pistol shrimp buddy
Mandarin goby
Corals:
Large Frogspawn
Multiple zoas
Digis
Green slimer
Clove polyps
Decent size monti
A very large acan
Small acan
Kenya tree
A couple ricordeas
I will be getting rid of a diamond goby once things move over. I am getting sick of uncovering my frags multiple times a day.
So, here's the long winded details on my build. There not be much to update for the next 2 weeks but in 2 weeks (fingers crossed) the tank will get moved over completely. I am looking for a couple of pieces of LR to swap for the flat bottom marco rocks you see in the aquascaping, it just doesn't look natural at all to me. Also, I am hoping to grab an apex controller as well when we get back.
