My phone sucks I read garretts post wrong and cant edit properly. I'll edit when i get home. Sorry bud

Na its ok Ray. Just pointing out that supplements make a big impact and probably more than the salt mix itself.

I have never used TM salt and have no experience with it. But I wouldn't spend extra money on something that would seem to make a big difference either.

At the store I am going through about a box of salt a week. So it adds up! :gay1:

So I personally dont care what people use in their tanks as long as they are happy and get good results.

Ray I do have to ask something simple though:
So if your using TM salt mix which seems to be working great for you, why do you dose other additives such as bio-actif?

How can you attribute the success of the salt to anything when your dosing other items besides just alk, mag, and calcium? There is no proof in the salt mix then since it could be anything attributing to it. Alot of variables are being thrown in the mix.....

Just curious.....

Alrighty round 2.

Who doesn't dose supplements/additives? I'm sure u realize that TM isn't a "MAGIC" all in one solution salt. Things deplete and needs to be replenished. Bio-actif is part of my maintenance I do twice a week with all the others I do. As I stated there are no hard evidence that one salt is better than the other. I use what I feel is best for me.

supplements makes an impact as do salt, I like the balance it has and the supplements are just added to maintain its par levels. Some may debate about it but again its one opinion vs another. Its obvious Garrett your reason behind why you use it is cost as you mention it adds up.

I'm sure if TM is easily obtained and priced as good as IO/RC I'm sure some members would switch. Unfortunately TM products require a minimum to get a break on price and I'm sure you won't go out of your way to get, but I would since I use it and sell what I use.

I'm getting tired of repeating my reasons why I use TM products. Most of you have seen my livestock in person and have asked what I use and do, well...:goldfish: end of story.

I don't know ray, they are pretty ugly.

Personally, I have seen the results of seachems Salinity in my customers tanks. I am starting the switch over at the shop. I will still carry IO/RC for the budget minded customers. But when I have 3-4 coral farms/wholesales plus the clients who say it's the best (many have used TM too) I have no choice but to listen to them.

I like D-D the best. I can mix it with R.O./D.I. water and not need to raise the Alk, Cal or Mag before adding it to the tank. The only downside is no one carries it locally. Shipping salt can be expensive.

Today's BRS email has this question. There is a testimonial from a guy who went from tropic marin back to io and says his tank improved and paying the extra money was silly.

Damn my testimonial carries no weight, I think I should post on BRS too :gay1:

every review carries weight whether its 1 oz. or 100+ lbs. they haven't received any updated reviews for IO @ BRS since 2010, I think its time for another one ;)

You notice though that all the BRS testimonials pretty much said they saw improvement after switching to salt X from Y. It's just human nature to think you see something that may or may not exist.

Bornoman did a in tank test that was very interesting (though not scientific since it was not repeated). RC and RedSea were the winners there if I recall. Id not put too much stock in something funded by an industry company.

I've had good results with all the salts.

thats to reassure oneself that I got something different if not more ;)

I do this all the time, its not scientific or repeatable,.. yoohoo does that put me in the league of borneman or worse borneman in my league? I think in legalese its called hearsay

so have we come up with the best salt? it seems to me the answer to the question is "They all are"
