BlindSwordsman's K.I.S.S. 90 Gallon Mixed Reef (1 Viewer)

I was taking pictures of something and thinking I probably should take a full tank shot to document whatever changes I made at the beginning of this new 2024 year.

I moved a few things around. And I said I wouldn't get more stuff but I did actually get some new stuff. I got some new plates.

I got a small piece of the following sort of plate from the store a while back using store credits. I got bored recently so I hammered it into smaller pieces as well. Here's a piece from that. I now have 3 small pieces and a teeny tiny one. They seem to do well.

I also use some store credits and got the following fancy, supposedly 'hologram hammer' from the store. It's sort of metallic gold/orange, with some green? ... This came from some member on here, I believe. I think my camera filter turned it either too gold, too green or too something and I couldn't capture the real colors.

I also used to store credits and got some small jawbreaker mushrooms. I'm trying not to spend my cash on this 'fish' stuff, so I only tried to get what I could with the store credits so these are not big and might not appear to have very nice colorations for this sort but I work with what I have :cool:.

And here's the current (unsensored) full tank shot. Things are doing okay except I keep having trouble with any bubble coral I put into the tank. I think someone .. burst my bubble again. It appeared to be damaged. It has been deflated a bit. I don't know if it will die or recover. I might have an empty hole to fill up later :confused:. Other than these developments, the rest is okay. The fish are okay. The 11 royal grammas I added in before seem to be fine and growing, but I think I might have lost 1. There is no relentless aggression/violence among them, but I did expect to lose a few from sickness or disease or whatever else as they were actually wild caught.

Okkk, I'm going to say this .. THIS YEAR SUCKS!!! 😄 .. Things at work that are not exactly within my expertise (e.g. The HVAC unit for the server room) broke, and I have to deal with it .. I'm still thinking how that is related to 'IT' stuff but since I'm kind of the 1 'guy' in the org of full of ladies so that falls on me by default?? .. Oh well! 🤣 Things at home don't seem to do well either. After adding the outside air, the tank looked good for a while. But the chaeto died so I removed it and threw in a bunch of rock. Lately, the glass is getting dirty quickly, but the skimmer is just not producing much (or at all) skimmate. The goni was super happy yesterday. Today, it completely retracts. I'll put up a post to look for some chaeto shortly, and try to keep that going again to see if things will improve. Or, well, you heard it already there, I want some chaeto!!! 😆 .. .. And while I'm already complaining about things: I also lost some fish last month. I lost an anthias, the Carpenter wrasse and the hippo tang. They were doing fine until I wanted to add a yellow coris for pest control. I ordered the yellow coris and some other fish online. They died and brought down the other fish with them. So, yeah, it SUCKS!!! 😄
 
Ugg, stinks when the world unites to remind us how in control we aren’t… good thing tomorrow is a new day.

I can possibly assist with the HVAC at work. I work for a HVAC distributor in an IT capacity so not “the guy” to help troubleshoot but I know plenty of guys.

Thanks for the positive note... But when you say 'tomorrow is another day', it is not like 'The Day After Tomorrow' or '2012', right?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think it would be best just to completely replace the current unit. I'll PM you my info and we can go from there? I think I have dealt with enough stuff today so I'm going to call it a day, take a shower, have my dinner and head to bed! 😆
 
I haven't posted an update with photo for about 3 months (?), so here it is. Looking back, I think it's worse now? It went down hill a bit, I think because I used a box of old salt that I bought and stored since the beginning of Covid. Things are getting better, and I just re-arranged some of the things. I don't exactly like its current look but I had to take some out for observation. I don't want to buy and add new things in at the moment and possibly deal with new issues, so here is how it stands right now. I just cycled stuff I already have ... Oh, I also removed the coral island (i.e. the magnet rock in the middle of the tank). It was doing fine but with it hung up high in the tank, not a lot of things going there to clean it so there was bit of algae growth among the corals. So, I just removed that. In any case, here's the current picture of my hot mess.

That's why I do so much testing!
 
OK, 'magic touch' and 'touch of death', it appears that I haven't introduced you to the pet cemetery I keep on the the back of my tank, have I?? 🤣🤣🤣
