The pom-poms have gotten bigger since I got him 5 months ago. Since they're photosynthetic and he spends a lot of time in the shade, they're very white. I believe they normally have a tan color. I'm not sure exactly why they're doing well, but when I feed smaller particulate food (Reef Chili, Cylcops) he's out waving them around pretty aggressively so maybe the broadcast-style feeding plays a part.

My crab's pom poms are white as can be too. I think they must survive on particulate food alone as mine is never out during the day.

Final update.

We're planning on moving this summer and this system will have to come down. :(

It's particularly hard as the tank is in its prime, but I think that will keep me motivated and excited to get things restarted once we're settled in to our new home.

Some fun stats:

Days since adding water: 1080
Days as a display tank: 527
Water changed: Just shy of 750 gallons
Number of times the "No SPS" rule was broken: Twice
Major wet carpet events: Three

But of course.. one last shot:

Until next time!

Bummer/exciting! What a beautiful system!

Have any pics of that Sinularia I can save for future use when I’m trying to track one down again?

Some interesting stats. Are you moving everything with you and transferring or are you going to be starting over (maybe getting back into sps :p ) ?

Everything must go! Will be listing everything in Classifieds when I have some time. I'll likely go back to Acropora the next time I set up.

I have quite a few. I really enjoyed this coral.

Here's a shot of the colony:

Well... Congrats on the new home!!!
This hobby is just too difficult to walk away from, so we expect to see you back at some point. (You're already talking about acropolis again, so...)
Good luck with everything preparing for the move and the move itself. Will you still be "local"??? Or is an island calling your name???

Oh, yeah...

Those lagoon style tanks are cool. I like the deep dimensions a lot. Gives you space for islands and stuff. I have too many ideas and likes, not enough time or space.
