Edit: I guess Rich has a number of things I wouldn't mind getting in on. I already have the Rainbow Crush, Flaming Bugatti, and My Bugatti, but I like the Last Shadow, Pink Dreams, Untouchable, JF Crazy Fox (Rich's price is better), and possibly the Prodigy. If we did get those from him, I might be able to negotiate a better price on the group. I've been dealing with Rich for a number of years and he's also approached me recently about a trade, so we could possibly use that to our advantage.

Jason-Like: Firefox, Split Decisions, Pink Bikini, Super King (though a little overpriced), Valentine. Arabella and Banana Dreams are tempting, though I have the Acid Bath which is very similar, so not sure...

Any leverage we can use to negotiate the best deal I'm all for! :) We're going to have either $1500-$1800 to get a decent package together so I would think that would bring 5-10 decent pieces into the mix:look:

Heh:D I saw he was selling a frag of that:look: I keep looking at that damn flamethrower he's got on ebay and not sure if I want to pull the trigger or not...maybe I can find a piece somewhere else:lookaround:

Once we have our options set, I have no problem approaching some of the other guys on the forum to see what we can negotiate.

A nice meeting in front of a tank over beer sounds nice to me. :beerchug:
 
This will blow my budget for new corals but I'm ready to go for it. Meetings with nice tanks and beer always sounds good.
Both Jason Fox and Rich Negret have nice pieces, it will be hard to make selections

$300 is going to be the buy in. Unless someone drops out before we get rolling I would like to keep this at 6 people tops...

I was checking out the corals and some of the ones that stood out from Richard Negret were the Prodigy, Raging River, Flaming Bugatti and Flamethrower. From Jason Fox, the Vivid Riddler, Twilight Zone and Split Decisions ($$$).

What are your opinions about grafted corals? Good/Bad/Don't care

We can talk about this when we get together, but honestly I would hold off getting the flamethrower from Rich. Not that he's a bad guy, but here are a few reasons:

1) His frags tend to be on the smaller side; don't expect big frags of *most* things.
2) There are often other hobbyists selling frags and you can get them cheaper. I know of a few sources where we might get a better frag, if you really wanted.
3) That's not his mother colony; that picture is borrowed and "enhanced".
4) Perhaps most important, as mentioned before, the Flamethrower is SLOW growing. It'll take forever to grow out, even for 5 people. I know this because we bought a frag for a growout of 5 people a couple years ago and we're still growing it out and will be for some time!!!

As for grafted corals: can be cool, but doesn't make them super must have. I kinda like them for the novelty, but they're not at the top of my list.

I am not a fan of grafted corals either. If everyone new the secret of doing it and started grafting corals left and right, the Reef Aquarium market would completely crash. You could make your own SC Dynamite Frankenstein style. It actually worries me a bit :/
 
Not sure if I can make the meeting tomorrow, something came up. Still trying to though. I am sure I will like whatever list you guys come up with.
