Durand tank build (1 Viewer)

3 Carberryi Anthias added today.
5 bimax anthias and 1 yellow corris on order.

Was also able to grab some sweet orange mushrooms that went into the frag tank after a good dip and sixline hopefully can handle the rest before moving into display after corris arrives.

Will post pics later. Lights are off to help anthias settle in.

Looks like everyone made it through the night and all three were eating right away from the avast plank auto feeder yesterday. So hopefully still keep going in the right direction.

Love the setup! Dude you still have the original Neptune controller, that’s awesome! I have the one after that still works and runs everything I need it to anyways lol

Just updating…..Tank is coming up on a year and I cant be happier how things are coming along. Tested today, which ive not done in awhile. No3 13.5, Po4 .03, Alk 10.5. I dropped my All for reef dose from 46ml per day to 44ml per day and see if this gets me closer to 9.5 for Alk. Switching off the mothers pickeling lime to the ESV has made my Alk raise a little higher with the same dose.

Ive noticed a little red slime algae here and there so I lowered the run time on the Avast auto feeder from 15sec to 12sec. See if this helps with this. Im still adding 1 cube of mysis 3ish time‘s a week. It’s so nice being able to dial things in exactly where you want with little changes.

All the Anthias made it. Im so surprised and fully expected to loose one or two. But very glad they all made it. A few of the Bimax still hide off and on along the rock edges but it looks like shark attacking when food drops in or anyone walks up to the tank LOL, a very cool site to see. If I see an upgrade in the future(1-2years) a yellow tang might be the final addition for this tank, and if I plan this upgrade I would be adding a pair of Harlequin Filefish But I don’t want to think of this yet LOL

You have done a great job with this tank, well done it looks really good.

Never cleaned. This is at least 18 months worth of use with hw marine mix. It’s way cleaner then when I was using Red Sea.

Careful with Potassium Nitrate, if you’re dosing a lot it can send your potassium to the moon. Calcium Nitrate costs a little more but no risk with it as calcium is present in a much greater ratio in our tanks.

Wow one of my clowns finally decided to find something to host. I think pulling some of those corals out and opening that inside corner up a little maybe helped with this.

Bulkhead or uniseal with a plug. Or a circle cut out of a tote bin lid and some PVC glue?
PVC glue? I thought the circle idea first but with silicone but figures it might not hold so was worried of it leaking. But if pvc glue would do the trick, maybe one circle that fits the hole and then a larger one on the inside for added support? I have glue for plumbing so that would be great if that would work.
