Durand tank build (1 Viewer)

I'm going to call you 'mister Upgrade' instead 😄. Are you upgrading again? I kind of lost track of your tanks and upgrades 😄😄😄.

Less of an upgrade and more of a lateral change. 😂. My wife bought new furniture and the existing tank location is not conducive to her design. So it seemed easier to put up a new to me tank in the new location then to take down, set up and go. Plus the 24x24 footprint just seems to be to small for what I want to do. So yes changes are being made.

Was able to get the basement frag tank taken down this evening. All livestock went into a tote with the hob filter and a heater. Took the diy overflow out of the 40. Cut up some acrylic baffles and siliconed those in. Set into place in the stand and ran the plumbing I was able to do dry fitting. Picking up the last few supplies I need for plumbing and probably get wet tomorrow for testing.

All fittings were glued up and filled with fresh water. Ran for about an hour to make sure I had no leaks and sump could handle the extra water when return shut off. Starting making water last night, was only able to get about 20 gallons of saltwater added. Hope to get it filled up mostly today and start moving over the equipment to get up and running.

Long day yesterday. Goat all the livestock and most of the equipment moved over and set up, Finished this morning setting up the rest of the equipment and cleaning up the cords. Need to add to the lighting, these primes are not going to be enough. Need to make a few last pieces for storage in the stand for test kits and such, as well as get auto feeder set back up, as well as some sort of table to raise Kalk reactor. Few more hours left and we should be back up a rolling by the end of the day.

I’ll post up some of the pics my wife took while I was getting the Miami chalice out. This thing I way bigger when holding out of the water. LOL

Wait so is this a replacement for your display or frag tank?

Looking good! I had assumed this was a display tank replacement?

This is a replacement for all tanks. I was tired of the black hole that was the corner cube. Plus I want more fish and a tang is on that list. Since a few 2x4x1 tanks became available it was time to pull the trigger. Getting close to done but here is how it sits now

I’ve never had such a tall stand. Man do I love all the room inside the cabinet.

And the chalice. I just can’t get myself to frag it. Lol

I agree. It looks good! ... And, my question is: When is your next 'replacement'???? :p🤣🤣🤣

Looks really good. I like the new location a lot!
Thanks. Me as well. I really like the 40 I had in this location.

Lol. I’d say max 18 months. Unless Figi cube starts making the corner overflow again then a same footprint but 16”or 18” tall would replace it pretty quickly.

Im noticing an excess amout of heat/humidity in the new stand that I did not notice on any other system. I assume it’s all the equipment. Any issues I should be concerned about? I first was thinking I could add some sort of vent on each side for air movement but I dont want to if I dont need to. Also though I could cover the sump, but I want more evaporation or as much as I can so I can add more kalk. Thoughts?

AC Infinity makes little 120v muffin fans that aren’t too loud, could add one blowing fresh air into the stand. Would certainly benefit all of your sensitive electronics you have under there!

If you put it on the wall side, no one would ever notice it unless you pointed it out
