Fishfoo's IM170 EXT (1 Viewer)

Well, that escalated quickly... Decided to plumb in a frag tank tied into the main display system. Finally, no more frag racks in the display!

Since it's tied into the main display, the equipment list is short:
Fiji Cube 32EXT
ATI Straton
Red Sea ReefWave 45 (WAY too much flow, even at 20%. Really impressed with it though so will probably use it in main display)

Some pics of the plumbing. Blue is Frag tank Purple is main display. Had to get creative to make it work with the sump not being super large.

The usual chaos pic as this was happening

While I was plumbing, I decided to switch out my UV bulb after 2+ years of forgetting to. Below is a picture of the bulb tube... Think it was doing anything? 😅

Also decided to use the media reactor for more biological media. I use carbon sparingly so it was a waste to use it in there and only have it in use every now and then. I used maxspect bio balls and seachem pond matrix to fill in the gaps.

Very cool I love to see chaotic basement pics 😎

Did you add a pump to supply your frag tank or did you tie in from your main return? I am doing something similar. Already have the tank just have not ordered the plumbing yet and still debating on final design. Your layout looks great.

Decided to T off the return where there was a 90 degree elbow just after the UV. Make sure to have a gate/ball valve for the second tanks return line though so you can control the amount if you decide to go down this route.

Things have been moving along fairly well. The new frag tank keeps sps but is still going through an ugly phase, which is so weird to me but it is what it is. Phosphates have been all over the place. I can't seem to dial in neophos on the doser. Will keep trying to find the sweet spot but at the moment I've just kept it at a minimum dose and am manually dosing extra to get to the desired levels. I'll be looking into some sort of auto tester in the future to test/dose phosphates for me because I'm growing tired of it 😅

As far as additions go, I picked up a super cool and HUGE tube anemone from @Reef Collective. The tube is close to a foot long and the tentacles are 9+ inches. I've never kept one before, and have only seen smaller ones for sale, so I figured wth! It also has some super cool orange/yellow markings in the green tentactles.

I also added a royal pencil wrasse to replace my blue star leopard. So far so good. Gets along with everyone and is always at the front of the tank looking for food. I'll try to get a picture of him soon.

That's basically it for now. Here's a few more pictures I took while I had the camera out.

BC Conveyor Belt of Fleshdunce. Mille's don't do the best for me, and I also can never get PE from them. We'll see if anything changes with this one.

Fishfoo Cigarettes After Sex. Backup frag growing nicely.

BC Mystery Team. It rtn'd almost immediately after getting it in the tank but I was able to save the tiniest nub. Now after two years it's finally starting to grow :)

No name rainbow tenuis. Not the best picture, but this guy is my favorite piece in the tank at the moment. Really excited to see what it looks like once it grows some more.

RC Poison Envy. Finally got a colony pic of it. A cool and unique piece.

Great photos and corals as always!
I'd love to see some pencil wrasse photos. They're great fish and I hope you have great success with it.

Agreed, he has been awesome. Makes me want to get more 👀

FWIW some Millies don’t do squat for me and other go bonkers. I’ve had this BC Sex Feast for over a year and it’s only encrusted while the JF Solar Flare I got from Davy Jones has doubled in size in 4 months.

I think some corals just like some tanks better than others. Tables clearly LOVE your system! Bottlebrush seem to be my mvp.

Very true, and at the end of the day it's nearly impossible to keep everything happy in these glass boxes. Doesn't make it any less sad though 😅

Quick tldr update: Tube nem unfortunately had to go; messed up my royal pencil wrasse pretty bad and ended up dying shortly after. On a brighter note, have some new fish and corals on the way/in qt. Still going through some algae struggles with the frag tank but trying to stay on top of it.

Now for a mini photo dump

Your corals look amazing and the frag tank setup is so nicely executed, congrats!

Things were looking as great in persona couple weeks ago, excited to see what you have on the way in!

Thanks guys. still have a ways to go, but I think I’m finally past all of the hiccups from the move, which is a huge relief.
