We have had this tang for more then 10yrs if I'm remembering correctly got him from Discovery Aquatics
who got him from a tank tear down and he said he was old then. How long can they live?
He has basically stopped eating much at all and has lost so much weight when we where gone last week.
I've offered may different food items and he eats very little to nothing.

Sorry about your fish. I had a lawnmower blenny. Its belly was usually round like a balloon. It was very active, ate everything that I put in, and kept munching on stuff all day. It was in the tank for a few years. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary with the other fish and the tank. But suddenly I noticed its belly was not round anymore one day. It didn't seem to be eating much after that, and it died about a week later. Maybe it got worm or something, but I didn't know how to fix that either.

10 years is great for a hippo honestly, they can live much longer though!

Usually my first thought is parasites. Unfortunately with internal parasites, it generally requires the fish to eat food with the medication on it. Prazipro/praziquantel is a good antiparasitic.
If he is eating pellets, I have medicated pellet food on hand I can hook you up with.

It does seem a bit small for being that old, maybe just the pictures. So there could be some stunting at play which can reduce their lifespan.

What food have you tried? Frozen, live, nori, pellets? Any changes to the tank recently before he stopped eating?

I Googled it and came up with 5 years in the wild and up to 10 years in captivity so he's had a good long life. Unfortunately he may be on the way out.

You hit it on the noise. He passed on Weds while I was at work. He had a great life. Discovery Aquatics closed in 2015 and I bought him from Jay maybe a year before he closed. I don't exactly remember how many but he was in another tank for years.

Sorry for the loss though man! That’s a long term pet for sure.
