That's the thought going through my head when I'm watching TV in the living room as I hear one of my EB832 Energy Bar's audibly "clicking" every few minutes.

This isn't the click you hear when outlets are turned on and off, this is an 'electrical' click that sounds like a breaker is tripping or a plug is shorting out. I've heard these EB832's have pretty terrible longevity, but curious how fast I need to get my hands on a new energy bar?

This has probably been happening for 1-2 months. Any experience with this?

Do you have outlets on a schedule? Is it something with your schedule that initiates the switching. I understand the noise you are hearing is not 'normal' operation, just curious if it is doing it on its own. Similar question, is the outlet always on but something is turning on/off (like a heater controller), and that is causing the noise?

Can you post a quick video of it?

Just personal experience, I have 3 running and the only issue I've had is the oldest one which was from the original release. The typical $5 board went out and was easily replaced DYI.

Remember, the 832 outlets are all relays, not like the old EB8 where only 2 were and the other 6 were Triacs. The 832 outlets all make a very audible click when they turn on and off.

To test it, unplug each outlet and plug in a nightlight or something you can see turn on and off. That will tell you what outlet is cycling. Then check your code for that outlet. I sometimes will mess up and have some outlet tied to a float or optical water level sensor or flow meter and forget to put delays into it, which will cause it to rapidly cycle as the sensor changes value.

And yes, in my experience the 832s are not high quality. I've thrown away at least 3 of them over the years and never had an EB8 go bad (other than me killing some of the triac outlets due to my own mistakes) since controllers were invented.

The electrical 'arc' sound or clicking sound is happening randomly.

I'll try and get a video, I'll just have to set my phone up to record for 5 minutes and trim it down to whenever it happens, its random. I'll report back!

It is a very different audible 'click' than the sound made when an outlet turns on. I will attempt to get a clear video.

Why did you throw the 832's away?
