Jeremy's office build or a case of scope creep (1 Viewer)

Due to us moving to a new office in December, I tore down the tank in early December. I figured that I would have it back online in two weeks. Well, after six weeks, I managed to get it back where it belongs, ie in my office where I can enjoy it. The biggest drawback is that due to the large windows, I have a really hard time taking pictures without significant glare. I know, such huge problems.

The coral were setup in a stock tank in my basement during the transition. The lighting was obviously a little too low because I have lost some color in the coral. Specifically the green nephthea lost some vibrancy and a green devil's hand turned brown. My yellow fiji also showed since degradation at the edges. Hopefully with increased lighting I can pull them back.

I took that time to upgrade my ac jr to a classic. Cord management will take some work and I still need to set up the alarms. One of these days I'll work my way through rsnodgrass' posts.

I also installed a light in my fuge but no chaeto has appeared yet.

Hahahaha good luck with that!

Tank looks great, what are you doing for your sand maintenance? I'm looking at get a few different critters myself.

I actually haven't really done anything for sand maintenance, just vacuum portions out periodically.

Nice variety in your leather coral collection!
Is that a colt coral hiding out in the far back corner?

Good eye. That is a colt coral in the background. It is on permanent time out because it doesn't play well with others.

Glad to see the office folks like it or put up with it;) Looks great hope all the colors come back soon.

I thought I might as well update this.

ended up moving my tank back home in the summer of 2020 because I didn’t know when I would return to the office full time. Still haven’t.

It hasn’t changed a whole lot, picking up some new things here and there.

Left side looks better than the right.

Dude that looks like a garden, awesome!
Thanks Ryan, I'm hoping to use the fuzzy sinularia from you to help populate the top of the right rock.

That really makes me appreciate a softy tank. Nice little yellow leather in the corner there!

There are actually three yellow "fiji" leathers in there and that is the one with the least interesting story. There is one nickel-sized one that used to be three inches until I fried it with LED and regrew it from 2-3 polyps and another that was about six inches this time last year and started shrinking until it's current size of two inches. I think the lights were too intense and I have that issue resolved but I'm still watching it.

I've also started dosing to brink the alkalinity and phosphate up.

Thought it might be fun to fast forward over the years.

January 2022 was the golden age of the aquarium. I loved the look of the left side but it slowly died off/shrunk. By August 2023, this is what I was left with.
2023 Aug.jpgI should look through my journal and see if can figure out what happened between 2022 and 2023.

Things didn't start to recover until 2024.

Overrun with bubble algae but things were starting to grow.

This is the current view. Things are filling in but I never was able to replicate what the left side of the tank looked like.

I do like how the toadstools look like trees and there is an entire environment below them. Need to get my hands on more finger leathers, I guess.
