Not new guy bought it for a 1400 gallon setup and then never completed the build, he even bought a spare pump and cleaning head which came with it so used but zero hours on the unit, I plan on a 1000 gallon system when finally done so it should work out fine.
Nice score, should have zero problem handling 1000g.

nice skimmer. skimmer head cleaner is the best investment for your skimmer. can't/won't go back to cleaning skimmer neck weekly or bi-weekly. looking forward to the build.

Yep and this has the wash down as well freshwater wash down on the outside of the cup and saltwater on the inside very sexy setup just like my last bubble king wash unit

so you have the skimmate drain directly to the floor drain?

That's the plan or a 5 gal bucket if that doesn't work

make sure you got a back up plan when your skimmer is overflow, if you direct down the floor drain. 5g bucket you can set a float switch to turn off the skimmer.

skimmer has an integrated shut of float switch in the cup

ok, got it, you can drain to the floor drain but you do it manually.
Nope it will drain automatically if a line becomes clogged and the cup fills it will shut down automatically.

I'm sure you have already researched it but everything I have read says not too. All the airborne stuff can be in the waste. Not really worth the riskto save a few gallons of ro is the consensus from my research.

I am not sure what you are referring to David?

I have decided not to use the dehumidifier water for top up if that is your reference

Yeah, I replied before I read you decided against it a few threads later. Sorry that's what I get for trying to use tablet while watching the miserable Vikings.

I think Clownnut is expressing his concern about the possibility that the skimmer could run wild and keep overflowing into the floor drain thereby causing the entire system to drain down. I know my skimmer overflowed big time a couple of times but it would just spill into the sump not down a drain. The addition of a float switch and a new skimmer pump cured the problem.

if you drain directly i was worry if the skimmer goes crazy it will drain your sump, while top off keep filling up.
i have apex salinity probe setup if salinity drop lower than 31ppm it will shut the skimmer.

Ah I understand what you are saying, I do have a conductivity probe but wasn't planing on trying to set it up like that.
I was going to have the direct drain run to a container and then to the drain with a float switch in the container i thought with the container output constrained if the skimmer went wild it would trigger the float switch and shut down the skimmer. As I type this I realize this is way to complicated and will go with a container that is manually emptied as you suggested.
