Ken's 215 (1 Viewer)

I currently have a blue hippo, maroon clown, engineer goby, and flame angel in the 92 that I will be moving down. I already have a 6 line wrasse, foxface, and desjardinis tang in the 215. I also ordered 6 lyretail anthais and may get a pair of blue throat triggers, if they can be caught :)

That first shot with the single halide is very dramatic. I've never seen a plate coral with the polyps extended :)lots:) and that's C-O-O-L, cool!

That plate always looked nice but the last couple of months it has really colored up and extends its polyps more then ever.

Picked up 3 (1 male and 2 females) of the 6 lyretail anthias i wanted to add to the tank yesterday from Jake. They are out and swimming around a little more today. I was a little worried about one of the females becuase as soon as I open the bag to start adding my tank water she jumped out about a foot into the air and into the tank (I about jump as high from suprise). :) So the only acclaimation she got was to the tank temp, but she seemd to be doing OK.
A big thanks to MattB who told me they cant resist the frozen cyclops. Even though they are still on the shy side as soon as I feed some of the cyclops today they came out and started eating. I will try and get some pics.

My anthias took a week before he started to come out and play. Once he did, he was a bully to all his other tank mates.

Canopy is set to be here Friday evening. I am hoping I can get the lighting installed this weekend. Then all that is left is hooking up the controler and making all the wiring look nice. I will post some pics as soon as I can.

Caught all the fish in the 92 and have moved all the corals I wanted to the 215, so the only thing left is one more clam. Used a fish trap and the entire family got in on the action. It was a riot watching the fish check out the trap and trying to get the little door closed before they could get out.

Ken,
It is great to see that you got a larger tank up and running. I want to do that also, but will have to wait a while. Can't wait to stop by and see it someday.

Chad (Achilles Tang) got my canopy done and dropped it off Friday evening. All I can say is that I am very happy with the job he did, it is fantastic. I spent this weekend tearing down the 92 (RIP) and then wiring and hanging my lights on the 215. As you can see from this pic he did a great job matching the stand.

This next pic shows my 3 250 MH lights. They are mounted on a rack that slides out, so if I need to change a bulb or work on the lights I just pull the rack out. The rack can also be taken all the way out of the canopy if needed. Lastly the entire front opens up and goes on top of the canopy so it gives the max amount of space to work in the tank. I was originally thinking of one of those split canopys where it is hinged in the middle and flips open. Chad suggested this design becuase it doesn't require as much space between the top of the canopy and the ceiling. I am glad I went with his idea.

These last 2 pics are a side shot and a pic of the trigger peaking out from his hiding spot.

Beautiful selection of fish, their colors are amazing! That hood looks great too. Awesome, awesome set-up! :beerchug:

one word "WOW!" Love the colors and the lighting looks awesome! are your reflectors about 8 in above the tank?

Yup, about 7" or 8" above the water. These reflectors really make a difference. For example my pink birdnest is further away from the lights but is coloring up so much nicer then it was in the 92.

Wow Ken, what a tank! Are those Lumenbright reflectors? What kind/k bulbs are you running? Like what you've done with the rockwork, looks like plenty of room for fish and flow behind the rockwork.

man, I wish I had a tank like that!

Yup, those are the Lumenbrights for DE bulbs that came out a little while ago and they work really well. But I am a little disappointed in the quality of the workmanship. The eyes on top for hanging them are just screwed into the thin metal without any nuts to hold them in place. I had to buy some nuts and washers for one of the reflectors because the eye was loose and it couldnt be tighten. For what they are asking for these things and the fact that they will most likely be hanging over water you would think they would make the hanging hardware more secure.
They are 14.5k 250DE bulbs, the same as I had on the 92.
