Mat n Lesley's 1st Reef (1 Viewer)

So, after a couple of months of watching my corals struggle and wondering why my tank keeps hovering around PH 8.5-8.7 regardless of how much algae I took out and reducing the time for the fuge light, I decided to test the probe. I cleaned and recalibrated the probe and put it back in to find the PH was actually only 7.6 o_O. I changed the fuge light back to 24 hrs on and over the last week it has migrated back up to 7.9, and the corals are looking a tad better. Learning from this, I will be recalibrating probes on a quarterly basis.
Never trust your probes! They are trying to kill your reef!
😏

I got so busy with getting the 220 ready, I haven't been testing this tank regularly. I just tested the DT, QT, and SW res last night. I got >2.5 phos in the DT. I think that might explain the unhappy state of the corals ;(

Yowza. What tester even goes that high? Time to setup the new tank ;)

I've been dosing lanthanum and managed to get the PO4 down to under 0.1
@BlindSwordsman Yes, some of them are pretty big. The convict and the picasso are both pigs. The emperor holds his own, too. It makes a fairly loud thump/grunt noise to scare the others off.

Nice buddy. Glad the lanthinum is working.
