petco fish!? (1 Viewer)

Yeah, I was in there one day looking for a mandarin and the other guy that's working a lot (not jason) offered to try feeding them. A scooter dragonette ate some , but not the mandarin, haha.

great story, huh..

yeah, my biocube was close to 100 dollars cheaper on petco.com than it was in the store so I ordered it online

Probably Collen. He's the department mgr.

Why does everyone bash petco. They all get from the same suppliers except minnetonka who has a few more if they want but im sure they dont use them all unless its a special order.

I have bought fish out of minnetonka petco tanks and had them specail order me fish and all of them have exceeded my expectations. If they look healthy in the tank and eat you should be good. Your paying for the fish and if its not up to your standards dont buy it. They carry starter fish to high-end fish. Harlequin tusk,Chevron tang,Sixline wrasse,Powder Blue tang all cheaper than most online and other stores and more importently they look great and were all healthy as can be.

wow tons of replies, thanks everyone for your inputs. i may have to go check out minnetonka to see how it compares. :)

think it depends on the location, i know jjwhiteboy works at Mntka store and he gets some really nice fish, healthy.

The Burnsville Petco's tanks usually look really good. I only notice a fish with ich once in a great while, and when a fish gets ich, they quarantine the whole tank and won't sell fish out of that tank.

I visted the St.Cloud petco last week and they told me that most of the time they dont acclimate the fish they just float the bag and drop the fish in becuse they dont have time to properly acclimate and they often die this way. they also had fish that had ich and they had a anemone in a tank with bad lighting.

Some petcos are bad some good it seems to depend on the store and the people who work there.

Petco.com is a different company from the brickk and mortar stores I was told. I tried to get the store to price match a cat tree and they refused saying the petco.com is a different company. So who knows where the fish come from. The ones you listed are where 80% of all the fish come from though so likely they get them from the same places.

Thanks for explaining the company I work for to me.

Actually, we do use them all. We don't get fish from the same vendor as the other Petcos unless a PO slips passed Jason. If that happens, we do let customers know what vendor those particular fish came from.

Acclimate fish is all I do on the days they come in. Some require drip. I watch every single fish as I release it to make sure it's doing ok.

Was just trying to help. Sorry. When I said 80% I should have been more clear with saying "industry wide" the way I put it before I can see how one would think I ment petco. You named a lot of the big guys and many of us get fish from those sources.

I got one of my first frags from Petco Minnetonka, that was about a year ago and its doing fantastic. I just stopped there friday and got a new fishy and its doing great too.

Petco Mtka is great, I trust Michelle and Jason and they have helped me with any questions I've had. Everything I've bought there is still living and healthy. If they don't know an answer to my questions they look it up. I've also ordered from Petco.com without any problems ! The Petco in Chaska is getting better as far as stock goes.:goldfish::goldfish:

I just bought a Female Orange Anthias from the Tonka Petco today. Appears to be very healthy and it's in great condition. I was very impressed with the store. I hadn't been there for at least 2-3 years. Read this thread and figured I'd take another look. Quite a difference.
