i would say if you are trying to get people signed up for the club, let them view everything and purchase only if a member. Advertising your club through being able to view Xenia and colt coral, along with brown corals is not good advertising, I would say that is poor advertising and representation. I do believe being able to sell corals and equipment should be open to everyone. Some of the nicest high end collectors in the state are not members. Not because they don’t want to be, but because they are crazy busy with their lives. Out of those collectors that I communicate with, they all love the idea of selling or trading locally, but usually opt out for quickest easiest route. Usually trading to other high end collectors or selling to the masses on R2R for the quick sale. I personally would like to keep the high end stuff within our state and avoid shipping, especially with our climate.
To add some technical flavor to this: it needs to be assumed that if you can see the forum thread, that you can buy it. Even if the permissions are such that a non-member can't post a reply to a thread within this forum, they could certainly Private Message the person for the sale.

I think this is a great idea. The members in this club mostly want the rare stuff. Corals like green slimer, birds nest, and common LPS really don't get much attention in our regular classifieds and you can't sell live anything on FB. Why not give folks a place to sell this stuff here?
On the sponsor issue; Let them advertise in both places but if not a sponsor you can't advertise here at all. I think there is intrinsic value in that whether it's public or private. We certainly can't limit members from selling corals here because sponsors don't like it. If that was the case let the sponsor advertise somewhere else.
Idea? What about making this public classified section have a $25 limit for corals? Sort of like the Odds n Ends section at the furniture store.

I like these ideas. Two separate classifieds. You sell where ever you would like as long as you are a member/supporter but nothing more than $20-$25 in the non member classifieds. That sounds like a winner to me!

Thanks for everyone’s interest in this. I think whatever is decided make a plan to review it in a year. At that point once we see how it is actually working, the club can adjust so it works best for our community.

I don't think there should be a price limit on the second one if it happens. Simply use that if you want or if your otem doesn't sell in the regular classifieds.

I would add one overriding filter to ideas after the brainstorming is done.
It needs to be simple, cannot be excessive with rules.
It NEEDS to be easy to moderate. There's never a lack of ideas but very few willing to do the work so make it easy on those doing it.

FWIW, on your for sale post I couldn't tell what the deal was you were offering. Were you offering any 2 of the listed frags for $50. Or were you offering all 10+ of the listed frags for $50, with two packs like that being available. I really couldn't figure out what exactly you were offering.
