Redwingers 75 gallon in wall build (1 Viewer)

:greenguy:Time to start stocking with some sps. If anyone has frags of nice sps let me know! Also the wifey likes zoas so a couple frags of those would work to. PM me what you have and a price.

I have some bam bams greens and I think red zoas if you want some frags .
Need to to get rid of some stuff in the frag tank .

Thanks everyone. Ran into a hiccup this morning. When observing the fish before work I noticed that ich has reared its ugly head. The cleaner shrimp is doing his job and has already set up shop with the tang. I picked up a 25w emperor UV from BRS today and got that installed to zap the little bastards. All water params are stable and no traces of any ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. So some garlic soaked foods for a few weeks and the uv running should get it under control. I hope it gets better over the next month and it subsides other wise the display is going fishless for 6-8 weeks.

ich is not subsiding so time to eradicate completely. Got my 30 gallon qt/hospital tank set up in the basement and the fish will be heading down to the dungeon for copper treatment and a six week vacation while the ich life cycle completes and they are gone. Then all future fish will be treated for ich and other disease before being introduced. Thought I might get lucky this time and not have any issues with this like I had in the past but that's just not my luck ;) the good news is that the corals look phenomenal and all have good polyp extension.:beerchug: dam fish are and always have been more trouble than they are worth IMO lol but guests and the fam like them and the corals love their poop. :)

Some more sticks. Be nice in a couple of months once they start to take hold, but for now some frag pics.

Switched out the lights and went back to halides with 20K 250w radiums. Missed that halide look and shimmer. T5s just weren't my cup of tea. Starting to see some nice color shifts in some corals after the switch. Most of the frags are encrusting well and noticing a little growth but not much yet. Up to five fish in the display.

Powder brown tang
Ora clowns x 2
Green mandarin
Clown fairy wrasse

Hope to get the rest of the fish in the next couple months which will include a firefish, coral beauty, two cardinals and about 5 anthias.

Also going to add another 30 pounds of rock as I am out of real estate for frags.

FTS? :pemail:

In due time.

Corals look great. Are you going to stay bare bottom?

Of course!

All the corals are doing well and encrusting and growing nicely.
Added some t5 actinics to help the colors. Cooking some more rock to add to the display as it just looked to bare and I needed more real estate. Fish stocking is now complete!

2 ocellaris clowns
Powder brown tang
Green spotted mandarin
Clown fairy wrasse
6 lyretail anthias
4 black axil chromis
Pajama cardinal
Purple dotty back.
Coral beauty angel

Plenty of fish now. Will only be adding a few more sps in the future but at this point it is time to let er' grow out.

Been dosing zeo aminos and zeobak a few times a week and seems to help keep thing ulns. PO4 is usually undetectable. Overall been pleased with this tank so far. Time will tell and I will get some pictures up when I get a chance. :)

i like that stocking list... and the subtle difference between the black axil and blue/green reef chromis is nice...

are you feeding the anthias multiple times a day on an auto feeder? ive always loved that fish

Yes three times a day from the eheim auto feeder. The black axils seem to have a higher success rate.

Amazing how much you can feed the fish (anthias) and keep your nutrients that low. Are you doing anything special?

the key is to keep everything suspended in the water colum so coral/fish can continue to feed as well as getting exported to the sump and skimmer for mechanical filtration.. the moment food settles into the nooks and crannies in excessive ammounts is when u run into water quality issues

BB and it has worked for me for years. Relys on bacteria and skimmer to keep things ultra low. Water changes get done once a month 20 gallons at a time. Only way I would ever run a sps tank. Very forgiving IMO. And the corals love just getting fed poo.:)
