Anyone try it ?
I subscribed to it to check it out and really enjoying it.

I had subscribed when they had a promo. I liked it but was too long form for me, which I would have listened if they posted the audio to a podcast format.

I’m considering dumping coral magazine and just keeping this.

Have you read it lately ?
I mean im sorry I don’t want to read anymore about cycling :)
I am still going to keep it for now.

But I understand, the volume of target audience in the hobby are new reefers due to the churn and burn. But some of us yearn to continue our education, exploration and research on the science track to keep things challenging and interesting.

Reef Therapy filled that exact void but alas after the late Jake Adam’s passing, it didn’t work out.

I haven’t paid yet, but I should. I expect this is the exact type of content I would enjoy.

There are so many nuggets I picked up from it when I went back and re-listened to it.

I don’t remember what podcast this was on but Than from Tidal Gardens was commenting how he couldn’t figure out why his push connector he was using for ozone on his large MRC skimmer kept failing… and low and behold Jake had shared this with him during a Reef Therapy conversation

This was a good reminder to check my subscription on Coral. Sure, the Sep/Oct 25 issue was a bit heavy on beginner stuff on cycling (I say as I skimmed through it). But Coral has, in my opinion, pretty reliably been on the cutting edge in terms of media reporting on the hobby.

I do agree that it's hard to find more resources for education in the hobby once you get past the beginner stage. I've got a whole library of academic disease books and papers on saltwater related stuff and don't rely as much on mainstream hobbyist sources anymore.

You can always try to get into fish or coral breeding ;) , that'll keep things very challenging/interesting haha

Been a member for 10 months, I like it and think it will become a great resource for hobby. Will continue to give my support.

Yeah as I said that, I do want to support Coral Magazine and will continue to do so. It’s not bad. I really enjoyed several issues.

For some reason the spawning does not speak to me 🤦‍♂️ I do miss the books though. I have a few of them in my collection.

Honestly though. You could subscribe for the entire year of Serious Reef for $80 dollars. We should support it if we can.

Besides spawning some great Fortune 500 companies Minnesota does contribute to the reefing hobby as well. BRS, NWA, Coral Magazine(based out of Rochester), SkideLoc/AvidAqua, Serious Reef.

I've enjoyed it, wasn't familiar with patron but discovered you can listen with the screen off. Not perfect but certainly a better search format than YouTube and without all their bloat.

I do generally listen to alot of books and find speeding up to 1.25 speed doesn't sound off and is better for me.
