Quick update, I get to buy a whole new stand (for joy).

We're still good?! Right?!

To update my end of the project... All of the panels have been constructed and the fluted clips are machined. I'll be ready to assemble the two surrounds and two canopies when I get back into the shop next week. All of the doors will also be ready. Without any hiccups, I'll be ready to stain and finish the stand in a week or two; preferably before MACNA, but we'll see.

Yeah we're still great Jason! I might end up having to tweak the stand off as a result of the stand delay but it's nothing I can't handle. For your purposes it's all the same.

Loaded up at New Wave for the drive home, the neighbor's forklift came in handy putting it on the trailer... tanking it off won't be quite as convenient. (o:

Pretty nice having dollies, suctions, and help! I knew my brother moved home from Houston for a reason.

It's just sitting on the floor now but hopefully cut it into the wall in a couple weeks when we get everything else done.

I've seen a couple posts today about fish and it got me thinking... what fish do I want in my coral tank?

Currently I have a vampire tang (Acanthurus Tennenti) and pair of true percs (Amphiprion percula).

I'm not planning on a lot of fish even though it's 300gal but have teased at the idea of trying a powder blue again since I'll have a proper 80 gal quarantine with UV on it. That would be the riskiest type of fish I'd be willing to contemplate.

Captive bred* is always a positive as well.

Thoughts?

Can't sleep... I'm cutting open my wall on Friday evening, installing the tank & plumbing Saturday, cabinets & equipment on Sunday, and electrician friend shows up on Monday!

Photos to follow of what I hope is progress despite my broken toe.

After all of your nice videos that you've posted previously, you show us a single pic after the demo and everything is cleaned up. o_O
The real value of quality entertainment comes during the drama of what is usually a train wreck.

So... there's no turning back now, is there?!

Hardy Har Har! I'm doing a time-lapse video for all your viewing pleasure (o:

Marty we did widen it exactly 2" lol

I took 3,972 photos today (o:

Had to put the sump in through the bottom of the stand. Maximizing space!

Cut a piece of black pvc type stuff to sit on the floor and siliconed it to the frame as a last ditch effort for leaks. This will hold 10gal once you factor out the sump displacement.

Got it up on end.

Father helped me lift the 400lbs of awesomeness... almost lost it but we didn't and yes my toe is still broken. My brother helped me with the demo but had to go home sick.

In place ready for plumbing tomorrow. Will still need to have it shimmed as well.

Electrical is run to the top of cabinet and underneath the tank. Lighting electrical is still going through an oversized conduit to the right.

Plumbing will go through the wall to the right as well.

The pink high density foam was our work around to getting a stand that fit through the doorway but still had height.

Today's the day I find out how good my planning really was... plumbing. I already can think of a few items needed. The main one is the ability to swap out my UV with regular pipe. This was an after thought so I can take it home to my QT.

I've got a couple of fun mods I'll be trying out, not sure I'll have time to do them today but both should result in increased tank flow. 1 to the overflows and another to all the input pipes.

Ryan! Is there a reason you put you tank between the wall instead of put it evenly on either side?

Btw, very nice build. Can’t wait to see it’s up and running. Should be soon ;)
