The Event Committee needs some workshop ideas! (1 Viewer)

I'd just like to learn proper bonding techniques for different build situations, so whatever is easiest for the presenter to coordinate to build is fine by me. I'd be happy just learning to bond scrap pieces, when to use capillary vs pins, and tool selection & setup.

I think this is the only really viable way to do it for a larger group. Making actual items takes too long and isn't viable with 10+ folks all trying to get time to cut and get help bonding and all the other things that go into something even as simple as a pencil holder box. But doing a demo about the process using scrap so folks can try it would be much easier.

How about a BIG TANK TOUR BUS of the member homes with the most elaborate systems? Maybe do 45 minutes at each house and have the hosts do a 15 minute talk explaining their system history, equipment choices, automation, challenges, corals, fish, fragging or breeding activities, etc. I guess the bus could be pink.

I would like to add my vote to an acrylics workshop. Second behind that would be an Algae Turf Scrubber workshop. An actual build workshop would not be possible, but DIY ideas, lighting options, flow rates, size recommendations, and such would be great. You could ask those who are currently using these systems to submit pics, DIY plans, success/failure stories.

For acrylic maybe have things pre cut (viewing boxes?) and focus on proper finishing technique- edge prep, getting things square, jig use, bonding etc. Less time spent on 'easy' stuff (cut here) and more on the nuances of acrylic

Not so much a reefing 101 but an intro to SPS reefing. I think some folks get nervous with SPS because of how difficult they are perceived to be. With stable water quality they grow like weeds normally.
