Yet another DIY LED setup bulid questions. (1 Viewer)

Ledgroupbuy has better pricing I think. I might be putting in an order this weekend, you could piggy back on mine. I am in Crystal, which is more centrally located.

Wow pricing has changed quite a bit in Ledgroupbuy... the last time I made my large order it was better by ony a few dollars but there was a 21 day + shipping days wait time....if you will be ordering this weekend I will hop onto a few warm whites and review some of the other "new" emitters they have

I would, but the UVs they sell run at a max drive current of 500mAh which doesn't jive with the rest of my setup :/
Ouch. Well, remember, if you order a new UV, I would love to piggy back on the order. Anyway, don't run the single LED, it will obliterate the driver. I have a few of the CAT4101 chips on hand, and will be placing an order for a few PWM chips very soon, so I should be able to get you back up and running.

Eh, those other chips on the board that I thought were PWM chips, turns out they are voltage regulators, and very, very hard to find. I've found two sources for them though.

Figured out how to connect everything.

Now I got to get it so they ramp on and ramp off at a certain time.

What sketch are you using for your ramp up/ramp down? I have one that i have been playing with that works pretty well. It lets you independently control 4 channels. Let me know if you are interested and I will send it to you.

Arrgh why didn't I see this 2 days ago. I've been struggling for the past 7 days.:brick1: I just finished getting it to work correctly tonight and also got moons lights to work. I would love to get a copy of your sketch to compare and probably tweak mine. :beerchug:

:mad_3::mad_3::mad_3::brick::swear::swear::swear:I thought I was finally done with the setup of this thing having finish the programing for the DIY controller. Went and plug everything to the controller. Plug it back in zap, fizzle, smoke, and the distinct smell of burnt electronics. :mad_3:

Now the Royal blue barley come on and the led on that driver comes on and fades out. Same with the led plug into it. None of the other Led comes on at all. But the led on the drivers come on.

I think the power supply may have a hand in it. As now the driver get extremely hot with in a few seconds of being plug in. Previously the run warm not hot to the touch. Though the voltage reading of the PS is 20v. I'm going to try hooking another 24v PS to them and see if my PS is faulty too.

Once that's out of the equation, I'm probably just going to send all the dead drivers back to Steve to fix them all or ask my fellow DIYER(ironman) who also having difficulties with these drivers for help.

thats very unexciting... too bad about the drivers. I think I'm glad I stuck to meanwells... although at one point I was seriously planning on doing a CAT chip DIY

Yea meanwells would of made life easier, but its the price I paid for a being cheaper.

So I just got my drivers back from Stevesled. One of my single drivers was rated for 700ma. all of them are now 1000ma. Awesome. I have contact him back let see what happens.

Ok, got an email back and they're saying nothing been change on the setting. I think I figured out which one the 700ma since there all labeled 1000 now. We see how that goes later tonight.

 So I've given up Steve's drivers, once again thought everything was great. I have everything wired, all the programing was working, everything looked alright. Unplugged everything and went to button everything up. Plug everything back. Only one array working. Checked all my connections everything good. Check my voltage coming out of my drivers only getting 6v coming out or less then that. I going to double check a few things but I pretty much given up on them and will get meanwells.

Probably a good call. I'm going to try soldering up my voltage regulators tomorrow (If I get time after trying to fix my cousin's POS Camaro), I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah I had no problem with my order, minimum quantities or contractor etc. Just put it in last Thursday so still waiting for it but I did recieve an email saying it was processing. But for the $18 price tag vs $34 you can't really argue with that.

Thanks for heads up. Which driver are you grabbing cause the Mean Well ELN-60-48P is about $22 which I don't mind at all.

wow, I wish I had known about that website when I was ordering parts for my build. That's not much more expensive than the crappy Steve's LEDs drivers. And would have been less costly/ easier to work with.

If you do order let me know, I will likely take two; pay you in advance and pick up at mutual convinience. just need to figure how many I need
